Just talked to them on the phone about my background check, and the lady told me they are taking 4 to 5 weeks right now.

I expect that I won't get as much done as I wanted, but I will still try. I will do the background for TWIC and hazmat (if I can) then whenever I am back in town I will get it added to my license.

There isn't a short expiration on the background check is there?. It may be a couple months between doing the check and being able to do the license.

Well 8 days and $391 later I now have:

    2 Year Medical Card
    Reinstated CDL A with doubles/triples
    Hazmat/Tanker Endorsement (pending background)
    TWIC (pending background)

The key component was getting a replacement SS card which only took 5 business days to arrive. I was told that a new picture card license will be mailed to me with the hazmat endorsement when my background check is complete. I thought I would have to go back into the DMV to get that done.

Fingers crossed the background check goes OK. Not because I have a questionable history, but the lady at the DMV wasn't too confident about doing the fingerprinting and was even asking me if the captured images looked OK?. o_O

Maybe she didn't seem too confident because you told her you and Charles Manson are BFF.

He is only my friend because he makes me look like a saint. If I was BFF with the Pope I would be in serious trouble.

Similar concept to a group of girls on a night out always have one fat/ugly one in the group. She is only there to make the others look more attractive.

I had my license in hand inside of 2 weeks. But it can take a little while sometimes. Not more than 5 though.

Well the TWIC showed up 2 weeks after applying, still waiting on the license. I can't imagine I would pass the background check for the TWIC and not for the Hazmat endorsement though.

It is up to the state for speed. Texas 10 days. Jersey was over 2 months for hazmat. Different states pay different agencies to run background checks.
