@Gleisom1979 I wish I could help you with that information but I haven't been pulling containers that long. I've been talking to a few drivers from other container companies and so far, I'm hearing that Universal Intermodal and Interstate are pretty good. I'm not sure if they own their own chassis.

$58 is not bad, I personally charge $90 if I have to pull someone else box to or from the port. If it's someone I know I don't charge them. That's what the company charge also.

$58 x 5 days a week adds up pretty quick though.

I didn't go over to Landstar yet. I just need to take the hazmat test, drug screen, and truck inspection. I'm going to try to take the test on Friday. My truck broke down the other day so I'm to have to wait until I get it out of the shop before I get the inspection.

I was trying to decide if I wanted to go to Mercer or Landstar and I think Landstar would be my best option. Interstate approved my application as well but I don't know if that's the direction that I wanted to go.

That's not bad at all. I should move to Jacksonville because Baltimore's Seagirt Port is DISGUSTING and where I'm leased on has really bad rates. I'm working about 10 hours a day, 5 days a week, running 1000 miles, stay under 60 mile radius and bring home roughly 1,000 after fuel/deductions and before taxes. This isn't why I bought a truck. I'm only buying myself a job here.

The Winter Haven rail is absolutely horrible from all aspects. If you like making peanuts and going to U Pull It junk yards when you're truck breaks go for it. I think saying it's not bad is the nicest thing anyone's ever said about that rail. In 2015 I grossed $30,000 in 8 months. Left to go back to vans (Florida only) and grossed $42,000 in the 4 months left in the year. Zone rates are the biggest scam. $55 to go to Lakeland.. $55 to come back. $110... to get back to the rail to find out there's no more work.

    JimmyWells and 7seriestv Thank this.
