Road bikes all my life until the last 10 years or so. Grew up at 4 riding a Jr 50 and had wore helmet when I first started. Once I was good to go I did not wear one. Once I got into street bikes I went back to helmets. Had a friend of mine wreck without a helmet and he lived but messed him up for life. When we picked him up off the asphalt he had a hole in his head and you could see his brain. That always left a mark on me and wore a helmet. I believe it should be operator choice as well.

Steve lehtos has a video on it .. I liked his thoughts about it .. more or less they got 20 odd years of driving in comfort and may do the same thing if told , they would die in a crash they may or may not have survived with a helmet in the future.

We grew up riding dirt bikes and never wore a helmet. I still don't when I'm on a street bike, but I sold mine a few years ago. I don't wear full leathers, so if I dump at any rate of speed it's going to suck either way.
That being said, I make my children wear them on their go-karts and dirt bikes. When they're adults, I'll let them make their own choices.Another Canadian driver, olddog_newtricks and Magoo1968 Thank this. -

Down there where you have your own insurance I’d say do what you want. But up here where it’s medical insurance through the government funded by the people I say put it on and if you don’t (Like the new Canadians) then you should automatically be disqualified for medical help when brought in unless you have a Visa in your hand.

While it should be common sense to wear a helmet, denying medical treatment is starting down a slippery slope. The same argument could be made for complications resulting from not eating healthy or not being active. We all pay into healthcare, we should all get equal access.

When they said I must wear a helmet, I parked the bike. When they said I could go without I started riding again
If I die I die enjoying life not living in fear of everything! -
