Yea that’s the sad truth. But doesn’t make sense for the west coast, they have even more Latinos and immigrants, but they have good paying freight all the time. I see $3 a mile on the boards and no one jumping on them. In Florida nothing ever pays above $2 a mile. Which is what you have to make to be profitable nowadays.

Get your own trailer and be done with the PO garbage. I’ve only done one PO and it was only to get me to Minnesota to pick up a new trailer..”gas money”.
Many new trailers are available now.
Times have changed, California spot rates are as bad as Florida. I can go west for almost twice what I can get going east.Siinman Thanks this. -
See I just sold my dry van because It was harder to find loads for it than power only. my last trip was last month to WA, and back to Florida. And everything is just paying cheap for dry vans.

Living in South Florida and surviving as an owner operator don't go together.
Finding parking is as difficult as finding a load down there.
Would be better off as a company driver.loudtom Thanks this. -
There are not hot areas anywhere in this country right now.

Scotlynn has a new HQ in Fort Myers. They’re reefer, hauling produce. I’ve seen really nice O/O tractors, hooked to their trailers, sitting on that property. I know nothing of their operation.

I suggest anyone who reads this to open Google maps and search for "scotlynn, Vittoria, on" and read the reviews. I believe this is their main HQ.
Scotlynn also owns the pete dealership next door.rollin coal and ducnut Thank this. -
Not surprised by those reviews. I said in another thread I never have issues getting paid detention from brokers because I document everything. Well good ol Scott Lyn was the exception to that rule. They stiffed me on 6 or 7 hours of detention pay on a load of cub cadet lawn mowers out of west Tennessee about 9 years ago. They still call trying to book my truck and I still never answer the phone when they do. Seems like the company I'm with sent out an email a while back about some Scot Lyn shenanigans *wasn't surprised* lol
