I think it is wonderful that the oil companies are giving away free fuel to help the truckers who are being effected by the high oil prices due to the refineries being shut down. Wait, they aren't? Then I don't go there for less then $8 a mile.

I don't think Irma is going to be a big deal. Already been downgraded to a category 2.

My last hurricane load was a few years ago. Took a large generator fro NC to Houston, paid very good, the Ford dealer that rented it was not trying to open his store to give cars to people that lost theirs. Dealer was willing to spend whatever it took to get open so he could sell cars to people that had insurance checks in hand. I am sure everyone got a great deal.
Not every load is a charity or lifesaving load. Some are driven by greed.Lepton1, AnotherFool, mp4694330 and 4 others Thank this. -
My family (wife's mostly) is fine....apparently it tamed down. Might not need us after all. Nothing wrong with being on the ready.
Be safe, guys.....thanks. -

In Clearwater, west of Tampa. Power still on and hopefully for the duration of Irma passing. Left Louisville Friday and made it home last night. What a breeze rolling southbound 75! Just us, few 4wheelers and convoys of power trucks!

Why do people call it greed? The rest of the year the screws are tightened on us to haul for paltry rates (if you are always playing the load board game) and now the tables turn and you get to turn the screws real good the other way. Nothing wrong with it.

It's not greed unless you plan to keep all that money in the bank and never spend a dime of it. If you're going to recirculate that money back into the system at some point, you're giving someone else work and a paycheck. More money just makes the wheel turn a little bit faster. It's the inflation that is robbing us over time.
