That's what my brother said a machinist by trade. Says it's not even possible when line boring that they all come out exactly the same, couldn't be done by the best, which is why you never switch one with another cause they're guaranteed different. Hell it could have gone a lot longer without causing issue if I hadn't had the turbo pop and engine run away earlier in the year. The oil starved engine there is what lead to this. I should have had new bearings rolled in and the top side valve train inspected replaced as needed, but I didn't. Hindsight always 20/20

You got any interest in selling that FLD?
    13sp fuller?
    Rears?
    How big is the bunk?

It's a small bunk 58" I think, not 100% sure. It's a reman eaton fuller 13 speed installed 5 years ago probably about 250,000 miles. 3:73 rears originals. It's got 5 brand new u-joints (4 spicers, 1 meritor!) and a new carrier bearing. Brand new shoes and drums up front. I have brand new shoes and drums for the rears in my barn.

New leaf springs, king pins and poly bushings up front in the fall of 2019. Poly bushings on the rear at the same time. 16 ply Michelin steers installed the fall of 2019 wearing perfectly probably 65% or more of the tread left. 8 new Goodyear drives installed at the same time with the same or better tread. Nearly brand new BW 171702 turbo.

14L Detroit obviously with a seized rod bearing. Cab is in great shape inside. I mean if you really want it and are serious I'll sell it. On the other hand I don't need the money and perfectly happy to let it sit and rust away for the next 50 years too. That's probably what will end up happening.

Oh shoot, that's got a pre egr 14L in it!!? That's a dang unicorn if so. They didn't make a whole lot of them in '99 that I'm aware of..
    I figured it for a typical 12.7.

I'm aware dimensionally the 11.1, 12.7, & 14L are all the same so I was looking at 12.7 pullouts. They can be had pretty cheap..

I'm on my 2nd FLD now & kinda got a thing for them. I get confused by freightliners bunk sizing system. Think it goes 42", 48", 58", 70", then 82" for the real big condo in '01?

58" should small cabinets, thinner than mine I'd reckon?

    Anyhow, I like that spec.
I'm in no rush either. Going to run some numbers of my own to see if it's feasible before I even ask what you'd like to have for her. Thanks

It's not a pre-EGR 14L but I do know someone who has one of those - wants too much money for it, needs overhauling. I'm done sinking money into old trucks. There's no cabinets in mine. No passenger seat either but I do have a newer one that could be installed. It's a flattop so space is at a premium, much better off without a passenger seat in it. You're not the first to be asking, think about it and pm a $$ number.

It cleaned up good after the oil bath. It's not a perfect example, it's a nearly 24 year old work truck, but it's not beat to hell like most of them. There's a lot of newer parts hanging off this engine.

IMO, it’s very hard to beat an FLD120 with a 70” bunk. The front cab mounts are big donuts, which isolate road chatter from coming up through the dash. With good quality shocks, they ride incredibly nice. They’re simple, reliable, and can be re-furbed into great looking tractors that’ll fuel mileage with the best of them. The only thing to make them better would be to hang a Peterbilt flex-air suspension off the rear.

A previous employer, with ~1700 trucks, had an OG who didn’t want to give up his FLD with a 58” condo. The guy had it from new and put over 2M miles on it. The company was diligent with services and oil sampling. The fleet manager said they’d only done one in-frame and basic services to it. He praised the driver for his abilities and being so gentle with it. He said the guy had the best tire mileage, fuel mileage, and lowest operating costs of any driver/truck in the fleet, which is why he kept it in the fleet. Unfortunately, the guy recently passed away. IIRC, he’d been there ~37yrs and more than 4M accident-free miles. A true OG and legend.

I'd agree with all that except for the Pete flex air.
Every one has their own opinion on ride quality, & mine lies right there with the Airliner. For me, that's the bees knees.. lol

The only reason I'm even contemplating another FLD right now is mines a 112, no room for more engine. Other than that, she's purty good shape..
