The batteries was strong but when It started it had a little rough time unlike normal start up when warm. I use the HotShots stuff and it works great. It was -0 plus whatever the wind chill was. This was not far from Rock Springs Wy as well.

I never have any issues with the truck once it is running. It will stay warm enough without covering the front. This has the fuel filter heater in it as well so it doesn't have an issue unless everything else gels up. I will start truck up if it is steady below 0 but I will only run it for an hour or two and shut it back down for about the same time and start back up. I don't sleep good most nights so it is no big deal to get up every few hours since I do anyways. Although I do sleep better when the truck is running.

Definitely. A truck running is like Mr Sandman! I sleep like a log, then.

I, on the other hand, do not.

On one memorable night, we were idling because it was "oh my god cold" and my truck 'Old Yeller' had 'issues' in the cold (yes, his life ended like the movie). I had a 'trainee dream', where the trainee does progressively dumber things (like getting out of the seat to grab something from the back while driving down Mounteagle) until I wake up drenched in cold sweats. In this case, because the engine was running my 'fight or flight' kicked in and wrenched me out of sleep paralysis and I vaulted from the bunk into the driver's seat to smash the brake pedal while screaming bloody murder. My poor trainee nearly pissed himself.

HA HA I have had dreams like that before. Scared the hell out of me when I jump into the seat and the truck is not moving but fills like it was because someone was pulling out next to me.

Well found a junk load to go with my good paying load out of Ogden UT going to TX. Almost got a chain up special going to WA but backed out since they would not come up to my quote. Wanted 3500 most anything went up to was 3100 I believe., I prob could have got it if I waited till the very end of day but decided against it. Not a lot coming back towards home from that area and kind of wanted to be back for X Mas.

So from UT to Texas I got a decent number at 8.7 MPGs. So far for the total trip I am at 8 MPG and got a load going back home to MO tomorrow. I ran 65-75 most of the time. Was at 75 on I40 pretty much the whole way. Hit the big cold storm today and dropped mpg's pretty fast with the 25MPH winds. Would have hit 9 if not for that. Hopefully the wind stops tonight so I can get decent going back home.

Was 55 degree yesterday and when I parked was around 45 and nice and calm. Woke up around 12AM with my truck rocking pretty hard. Thought I might have been getting hit by a tornado. Nope it was just the 25 plus mph wind not stop. I got up and turned the truck and trailer into the wind so it would not blow my butt over. Had about 24K in the box for that load so not to heavy. Load in the morning should be 30K so good enough to go through any snow and ice.

Double-check your routes, as I-44 has been closed, off and on.

Thank for heads up. I have at least a few options going back home so should find away to make it. The load goes strait through and delivers so gonna happen one way or another. Ha Ha

My buddy has been coming across US36, after being stuck in KS. He’s overnighting at Bevier, MO. He didn’t mention the road being bad. MODOT does a pretty good job, across there.

Yep I rarely have any problems in MO unless it is further north on I29 or I35. 36 is a good road to drive same with 65 if in that area. Grew up right off both.
