So after looking most of the day for a job I finally found something going back home. It is almost 40K and I can deliver anytime when I get back, so I am hauling butt. I have plans for Saturday night that I should be able to still do now.

This is a new broker I am trying, I believe they have these loads all the time. So I might see if I can make a deal with them on future loads from that area. Will see how it goes I guess.

Originally the load was suppose to ship tomorrow so I told them if I was around give me a call tomorrow. But told them more than likely I will be gone today. They called the shipper and got permission to ship it today so that worked out pretty good. And I really like getting loads going home that I can drop off before going to the house. I hate getting up Monday morning just to drive an hour away to get in my truck and then deliver. Seems I always waste half a day doing that at least.

Well that trip back ended up being 7.1 MPG's going 70 and 75 so I had enough time to enjoy Saturday. Whole trip was 7.3 MPG's so not all that good but it was worth it to do. Will see what comes next trip.

7.3 not good! I think you’re doing great! I only get 5.9 on a good day.

What do you run doing 5.9? I would be pretty pissy with the way fuel prices are with that unless I ran local.

So just got word the trailer aero is finally in. Trying to get a date figured out that I can get it installed. Also finally got a price for the tool boxes to be added on the trailer. It is kind of higher than I want but may still get it done. I first want the aero installed since I paid for it over 3 months ago. So hopefully they can get the trailer in soon so I can do some testing while it is still kind of cold. I would like some reference numbers on it before summer time if I can.

Well found out I can get the aero to the trailer done tomorrow. So I am gonna get up at 5 AM and get it to the shop by 7:30AM. Drop it off and hope it is done tomorrow or Wednesday morning. It should only take a couple hours to get it knocked out so will see what happens.

I run produce, ice cream, and meat. Midwest to the valley and back. Hauls are usually 300-1600 miles, 65mph or 72 mph. I blame the bright green Pete eating up most of the fuel. Still better than a cat.

Awww I see your profile pic. That would be a hard one to do but I am sure you are doing well if you made it through the higher fuel prices. I had thought about getting into Refer but I can't stand the wait times at the shipper and receivers.

Waiting now for over three hours. Could be 3 more. I don’t even worry about it. As long as the numbers make me happy at the end of the month and I’m not wearing out my equipment. It took a while to adjust, but it’s fine now.

    ducnut and Siinman Thank this.

If numbers work then it is well worth it. I just didn't know the market good enough to fill like it would be worth it. So I kind of talked myself out of trying it out. I started out on my own so no real understanding of that side other than the few friends I have that worked in it. I am glad it works for you.
