Well I finished this load out and back home now. I had really high hopes for the load coming back home. I left Texas and was 9.3 MPG's and parked for the night. Next day hit wind yet again and killed my hopes and dreams. Was only 8.5 MPG's on the way back fighting the wind was frustrating. Total trip was 8.2 MPG's so not bad but I expected to be better. I did not see any improvement based off of the wind issues but felt the the trailer did for better handling.

3, all 23's, running the same exact run every week. All started about the same time last year. Some trailers with skirts, some not(D/H 2 of the loads)
Running whatever the speed limit is.
    Volvo 75K 7.7 mpg
    Volvo 85K 7.8
    FL 105K 8.1

That is pretty good doing those weights. How many miles a week are they running? I am at 7.9 MPG's life time on this truck right now. Will start going up now that it is warming up.

Right around 3K. That's not the weight, it's the miles on the truck. Weight is in the 40's every load.

We have a mix of everything on our trailers. The nice trailers have skirts and lift axles, the Wabash lease trailers have skirts, and the Hyundai lease trailers have the stuff on the back and on the roof. We don’t pull the same trailer long enough to have it in all conditions, but I don’t see any difference going from trailer to trailer to trailer. Weight and weather are the big factors. This load I’m on now is light and the axle is in the air on the trailer. And that won’t even make a noticeable difference for the 800 mile trip.

I come out about 2/10th's higher if the trucks have a skirted trailer the whole round.
Easier to see when they do the exact same round each week.

How long did you have to track the same trucks on the same routes to be able to say the skirts add 2/10?

    Siinman Thanks this.

Been doing these particular runs for 20+ years with company trucks. When i first started putting skirts on I would run one for 3-4 months with them. 8 other runs with O/O's, I don't track their mileage but if they can grab a trailer with skirts they will.

Midwest Trucker, Siinman and Long FLD Thank this.
