Does the extra lift come from the rear bags inflating more than the regular bags?

I do not believe so but honestly I did not look. I will take a look at that tomorrow if I think about it. I was told I could change the ride height and get it to go up another .5-1".

I’m trying to figure out where the extra lift comes from on the factory ones when the bracket and bags look similar and in the similar mounting position.

I will try and check it out tomorrow. I did not pay to close attention to how it all works to be honest. I lifted it up and took off out of the shop to get my load. Lowered it down once at the dock and then lifted it back up and took off.

Might try and take a little video of it when I get a few extra minutes. Then you can see how it works vs factory set up.

I went and measured while I’m parked and the top of the tire on the rear axle is 5.25” from the side rail on the trailer.

Based off of an earlier picture you posted with the newer trailers that front axle goes up into the trailer or very close to it. So it is being pushed up further than mine. If I remember right they had told me it was because of the railing that mine would not lift that high. So maybe I should get under it and take a good look at it when it is lifting as well from the front. Prob will see the reason it doesn't lift as high based on that information.

Tomorrow I’ll get a pic of the top of the lift axle tire. I guess my simple mind can’t get wrapped around what would be so different between the two in order to cause your trailer to lose 2” or so of lift just because it was done after the fact.

I almost got out and looked but said f it. It is raining or was a little bit ago. So will take a look and see. Sure it is not much different than yours, You would think they would make them all the same so you could add-on this with no issues and they could make more money. But that makes to much sense!

My guess is the tandem chassis is built different to allow the mounting for brakes/tank/etc to be in a slightly different area.

Your suspension is designed for it. His isn't. I wish I could find pics of mine on here but that was 8 years ago and nothing pops up. Looks exactly like his, same raised height, except it was welded on instead of bolted and the valve to raise/lower was enclosed inside a plastic box mounted just forward of the air slider valve that also had a suspension gauge in there.
