With the fuel saving I had on the way back I went ahead and washed the truck and trailer!

Much the same environment. Michelins and Goodyears expose a lot of sidewall to the ground when they’re loaded. They don’t know if it was a curb or a rock out in the bush. It’s about the same to them. My trailer tires get to about half life and then the stones on the gravel get them. Stone bruise in the tread face and they destroy themselves and usually the one next to it in a couple of days on the highway.

I have the complete Flow Below kit on a 2016 Volvo 780 with the XE package, 235” wheelbase, full fairings, side extender extensions, I-Shift ATO with 2.64 rear gears pulling a 53’ dry van with Trans-Ex side skirts on the same route LAX-ELP with 15k-25k lbs. in the box.

    I don’t idle at all.

From 4/21 to 11/21 with the kit installed, my fuel mileage averaged 8.0-8.1 mpg

From 11/21-present my fuel mileage dropped to 7.8 average mpg after I took just the wheel covers off, but left the rest of the kit on.

I would caution that your test timeframe includes the winter months vs summer months during which time, winter diesel and denser air will tend to drop fuel economy.

(Not really sure how lax to el paso fuel is treated, winter or otherwise, but almost all the bigger chains do at least some nominal level of it countrywide)

Based off of the way the truck arrow is made it does not surprise me that the wheel covers do work.

Well I have booked a couple loads for Thursday until Tuesday. Gonna go to AR with a 45K load then out to WA with a 12K load. So should be able to see how it does with a lighter load this time.

How do like the 500? I drove a few mp8 445s in the oilfield moving pumps around and liked them. Geared about the same as yours ~1400 at 70

It pulls like nothing is behind it 30K less. Compared to my other truck it is night and day. The other truck had 455HP with 2.67 and did pretty good but nothing compared to the truck. I normally am the first truck to the top instead of being in the middle of the pack.

    77fib77 and Brettj3876 Thank this.
