Inflation. Whatever tire you have should have a published inflation chart if you aren't just going with the max on the steer axle, which is what I think most people including yours truly does. 123 psi on a load range H 16 ply tire. Even just a little bit low, like 110, can cause some odd wear. That is, not just center vs edge wear. This because that steer is almost always at max weight.
Make sure the truck is moving when you crank the steering wheel. Even a little forward or back motion will reduce the stress on the tread a lot. Side benefit, your steering components and hydraulic pump won't hate you as much either. -
