Nope, definitely a Volvo thing too. PM replacement every few hundred thousand miles is a good idea. It's a fairly easy DIY job but not so much on the side of the road crawling around a hot engine/hot coolant.

DON'T BUY THE CHEAP KNOCK OFFS ONLINE! At least for Volvo, they are junk. OEM all the way on this part.

I have heard that on some of the older models. Have not seen that on the newer ones so far. What years are you seeing this on?

The knock offs probably. The OEMs are significantly better quality. I've looked at them side by side.

But it's plastic. It's only going to make it a few years on top of a hot diesel engine. You can get a metal one, I've seen them online somewhere.

No doubt about it. Very easy to do but not so much with a hot motor and coolant on the side of the road. I am hoping most of the stuff that normally fails around this time will happen close to home or at least within driving distance. My dealer I go to will knock out anything in a day if I ask. I figured this was gonna give before too much longer as well.

If I planned on keeping the truck long term I would look into that for the next one. But I doubt I will keep this past warranty. Not 100 percent sure yet but most likely will be sold next year and get a new one.

Not sure how new of model year. My ‘14 cracked right on the weld. Tech said it was common and to always take a peak at those two welds, in the bottom corners, anytime I have the hood up.

Well today was interesting. I got. load from MS to Ks at 12K and managed to get 9.4 MPG's on that load. Was pretty nice drive and no wind for once.

Then I go and get the load delivered this morning and pull out. Leave one door open to check out. Get to check out and find that 3 of my hinges snapped on that one side. I could not figure out what the hell happened other than old crap metal on the hinges.

Thankfully I was within an hour from the dealer I bought the trailer from. Not sure if they will cover it under warranty or not. Sure making me think about selling it and buying a new one. It will be paid off at the end of the year but I was thinking of keeping it for a couple more years.

So when I got the trailer back this morning I noticed a little spot that looks like it took a small hit. Gonna guess something was stuck in Wal Mart door when I backed into it. I did not fill anything and it did not bend any metal on the door but just the seal. Seems like that should not had done that much damage to the hinges. I am still baffled how they could break that easy.

On another note I am finishing up a 3 stop load in MO and will get 9.3 MPG's for the trip. Load was 18K for most of the trip.

Also when I had the trailer in the shop I had them replace some of the LED's since I had a couple going out. Had a bad brake light as well that they replaced. I had been noticing that my Lift Axle did not seem to be going out as high as before and also the ABS light was coming on the trailer when I lifted the axle. It has done this off and on since I installed it. Now that is gone and also the trailer is riding the right height again. Not sure if a wire caused some kind of issue with the ride hight or lift axle. Everything fills perfect again, Strange how that worked out.
