Ouch. Nice on the tow and the warranty coverage though!

Once I stopped at a little truck stop,in the middle of Kansas. It was midnight Saturday night. The little truck stop had 3 pumps,I was getting 50 gallons to get back to civilization. After fueling the truck wouldn't turn over, truck dead at the fuel pump.Got on the truck down app, closest mechanic was 2 hours away.He came out tried to jump it,nothing. He told me to hold the key in the start position and he went under the truck, hit the starter with a hammer and it fired up.He charged me $450 because it was a 4 hour drive for him.I drove it back to Houston to our shop, never shut it off.

Tow coverage is pretty cheap. I had it when I had Great West but luckily never had to use it. The only time I needed a tow truck I had Northland. Lol

First time I have used the tow and was surprised at how fast it was. I really figured since it was night time I was gonna have to wait till morning if I used them. Good service over all. Just called the insurance up and they set up everything once they took down my information. Took about 3 hours total I believe from the time I called to when the truck showed up. I was an hour away from the Tulsa and not many towing companies in the area I was in.

Yeah I tried to do that with my starter and even tried to jump it from the starter. Only got one little spark, the starter was fried. I had noticed something was going on before hand on starting but I thought it was my battery having an issue. I have those lithium starters and one is not workin right and starter an issue a few weeks ago. I ordered a new one to replace it and it came in today. Will send this one back under warranty and then have three instead of two. I needed to buy another one for summer. But that through me off from thinking the starter was the problem and why I didn't catch it. Brain got stuck on the battery instead of seeing the whole picture.

This is the 4th time I have had to get towed. First with this truck and first with the coverage. I was surprised it worked as good as it did to be honest.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

Dang man, I've never been on the hook in a 750k driving my own trucks!

I hope you have better luck in the future.

Most mine was from my 2014 VNL 760.
    1. First was when I went in the ditch in AZ from surprise snow storm in April. Just pulled me out and was good to go.
    2. Second was such a stupid mistake as I backed off the edge of the road barely and had to get pulled 3 foot to get traction. Was right next to my old yard where I had my trailer parked. This was Bob Tailing.
    3. Third was another stupid one. Had the truck at home and the battery shut off was shot and they towed it to the shop 30 miles.
    4. Fourth was this one on the 23 860 for starter.
    5. I for got about the FL break down where the antifreeze ran out and then they messed up my transmission.
So total of 5. Also that was one that I should had caught before hand as it was a normal issue on Volvo's that I should had fixed before hand. No experience cost me a few bucks but not to bad over all.

If I had been smarter I would had not needed a tow on all but the battery shut off switch. Remember I started out driving my own authority and own truck with no experience. I don't think it has been too bad to be honest considering the used truck needed a rebuild on it in the first year. Some how I managed to drive that thing to the shop from about 100 miles away.

Great West has a breakdown tow coverage but Northland limits it to units up to a certain age.
