i practiced a lot on a video game when i wasn't in school (Trucks and Trailers). the best part of it is the point of view. radio controlled toys are nice, but a video game give you the driver's actual perspective and others (top, rear, wide angle, etc). it's even more realistic if you have a driving wheel, but those can easily cost $100+. you can try the game out as a demonstration for i think it was 30 minutes. the full game is $20-30 i think.

teachers would confuse my already panicing/confused self with left or right directions. i was thinking "what do you mean, your left/right, mine, or the trailer's?" in the end i just renamed and clarified it for myself. turn the wheel right to make the trailer go to the driver's side and turn the wheel left to make the trailer go to the passenger's side. so, "right = driver" and "left = passenger".

the problem i keep haveing is the same-heres the dot set up-pull through the 100 ft.of cones,do front bumper stop and then pull up for 45 degree alley stop[i go till 9 ]and then procede far enough till they say i am at minumum for 45 dock, been useing landing gear for guide, had been goin back 4 to 6 feet then 2 turns left to get angle then at that point my nogen shuts down and i am outside of cones and do a pull up but i think i have to much angle and dont have enough room for a decent pull up.one teacher had me do 1 turn to the right when starting at 9 and another had us go a few feet then 2 revolutions left when starting.truly dont seem to know which way to turn.i have had extra time at school also.i do know which way to turn to crunch the dots cones though-thanks

the op stated he has failed the backing portion of the skills test twice already. hence the reason of using the allowed number of GOALS.

OP, Do you have any access to a trailer, whether it be a lawn tractor with a trailer, boat trailer, utility trailer,
If you can get one practice with them, its the same principle, most people are intimidated by the size of a semi trailer, and the bigger they are, the easier they are to back... If you can master a small trailer, a tractor trailer is a breeze...
Just takes practice, and even when you get a lot of experience, you WILL have days where no matter what you do, you can't back to save your life... It happens ...

    Keep trying it will come...

When I first started I thought I would NEVER be able to park/straightline B/U. The KEY is to "setup" properly so that the trailer flows into the spot. Use your space up front to line up your trailor - when you do it right, you'll be backing in with no effort!
KEEP THE FAITH & KEEP AT IT! It WILL click with you one day, the lightbulb will go off & then, PRESTO!

Does your toy store have a website for purchase of the toys?

trucking is all about spatial awareness. Try to imagine what the trailer is doing before you turn the wheel.

One way is to watch others back and learn. watch what the trailer is doing, how they set up and all. it works
