Accident happened in ector county not harris county…frankly she should never see a dime..I don’t feel sorry for her one darn bit since she was the sole reason for the accident occurring

I know this doesn’t fit into your narrative but it’s what it is.Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -
Anyone wondering why Werner lost the case and the appeal please open the link and read.
Start with page 3 relevant facts..it’s mind blowing, holy crap!
No wonder they lost big time!
Driver scores were second to to the lowest at Werner. Officers testimony completely destroys it for Werner.
read more here from JUSTIA
Werner Enterprises, Inc. and Shiraz A. Ali v. Jennifer Blake, Individually and as next friend for Nathan Blake, and as heir of the Estate of Zachery Blake, deceased; and Eldridge Moak, in his capacity as guardian of the Estate of Briana Blake Appeal from 127th District Court of Harris County (opinion)Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -
So now we understand what the Texas CDL manual says about driving on ice. You’re required to slow to a crawl defined as 5-15 mph and once this happens you’re required to shutdown…
Werner was clearly speeding for conditions and ignored all of the many chances to get off of the interstate. So by Texas CMV regulations Werner disregarded the law when he shouldn’t have been driving. All from Texas State Troopers testimony.
We also know now that the driver was from Texas and I’ll bet two roller dogs that he resides in Harris County which would be the legal venue for the lawsuit.Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -
Fact of the matter is …certain folks in society like to blame people that aren’t responsible for certain acts for the act occurring and other people like to sit there and blame race for accidents Occurring… You just can’t fix stupid

Now let's shift gears to your 2nd thought. I mean.....you guys complain about everything else in the industry, including the influx of different cultures, pushing the narrative that the industry is in "decline." Yet all of you continue to work in it. Why? Because all of that has no bearing on your paychecks. Trucking is one industry, where you control your own destiny.
The trucking industry does contain a very high level of low level thinking racists, and I stand by that. That's merely an observation which keeps proving true in various dialogues, not limited to TTR. It's whatever. It's a free country. Folks have the right to ignorant, racist, whatever, and I have a right to work. My observation isn't a big deal in the big scheme of things, as I can't change how anybody thinks. These dialogues, at the end of the day, is simply entertainment. I can talk with all of you, even though we differ in world view, but as long as you don't get personal, as some have, I'll continue to talk on here. I may think trucking has a lot of racists, but it has no bearing on me making a paycheck. Remember, it's merely an observation/opinion.
As fornthe Russians, you know I've worked for them. They get a bad rap on here because a lot of ignorant drivers go to work up there without being privy to what they're getting into, just every new CDL holder. They go to those companies thinking they'll make 2000 per week at these small companies that operate purely spot market freight. Yeah, right. It's an unpopular opinion but they have a spot in the industry. They allow for people to rehab their careers in the event there was a hiccup. I've worked for the Russians, and admittedly, they run by their own rules. It wasn't all bad, and it was far from the worst job I've ever had in life. They've treated me well, just like any American company. I've been treated well anywhere I've worked. It had nothing to do with their nationality, it had everything to do with me. No matter where I've gone, I've kept my head down and ran the miles. Quite honestly, that's probably how I got to see the good in them. Ego-less trucking really changes your perception on things.Sirscrapntruckalot and Concorde Thank this. -

If you don’t know what I’m talking about it’s the request for 80k more drivers that the ATA was successful in getting.
I don’t know about you but I’m barely staying afloat and thinking to throw in the towel the end of May. I’m certainly not going to waste another summer OTR when I got everything I want sitting at home.
Seriously, I’m a 2nd gen immigrant, been with an immigrant from Peru for over 22 years. I know their struggles and desires to do better for their families. Come to one of our family gatherings and you’ll think you’re at a UN meeting, lol.
This country has always allowed in on average 5 million people per year. While some people will always have the “Get off my lawn” syndrome. There really needs to be a conversation about how many immigrants should we be letting in every year.
It’s getting down right crowded in this country. The more it gets crowded the more people get agitated and violence rises.
There’s no contempt in having a conversation about how many people we let in and at what level can our infrastructure support. Roads are becoming more and more crowded and dangerous every year. At what point do we step back and realize something needs to be done..Waiting until its daily gridlock traffic everywhere is too late.
Tempers are rising along with the disdain for immigrants in this country and nothing good is going to come out of it. I come from a state that experienced the Irish invasion..it wasn’t pretty, lol.Sirscrapntruckalot and bryan21384 Thank this. -
Perhaps I should have been a school teacher instead of a truck driver, lol
