Most assuredly there are abuses of hourly wages by employees, which is wrong on their part , how many employees are cheated by their employers ?

I am sure there are a few, but I don't see it as rampant. Just off the top of my head, I can only remember one that tried to that I thought was on purpose, and that was back in the 70's while I was still in high school.
I have come up short a few times over the years, sometimes it was my fault too, but they always made it right as soon as I called it to their attention.

Fmcsa can't make the Warehouses or factories pay.
If laws are passed carriers will pay to drivers, out of pocket.
    End of story.

While I do agree with you, it would make the company think twice before sending there truck to a warehouse that is known for a 4-6-8 hour wait.

Just for the record I am not for government involvement at all.

The drivers put the pressure on the trucking company by logging all loading and unloading time. Now the trucking company can't expect the driver to run more miles to make up for sitting for free. Now the trucking company has a choice to make, ask for higher rates or ask for detention pay or drop the customer.

When a driver sits for free today the trucking company don't lose a lot of money because they know and expect the drive to run his 70 hours out. So that makes up for sitting for free. The only person paying that price is the driver.

Why not make the trucking companies have skin in the game ? If they are ok with drivers sitting for free. Then they will lose money also.

I would think most trucking companies would rather have their expensive equipment rolling .

$7.25 per hour is federal minimum wage. If they want better drivers the pay will be adjusted to meet the market.

Why is the employer not looking at the e-log and dealing with the driver?
It is more likely the driver is doing unpaid work than it is the driver is padding the clock.

Fmcsa can't make the Warehouses or factories pay. This is true. But carriers don't have to accept the load. Adding a delay fee to the contract is easy. And that is the end of the story.

Factories can almost certainly always find carriers to work cheaper.
As carriers keep finding workers to work for less.
Have you been inside a dock lately? Not only are most workers immigrants with poor England sh skills, but now I notice 9 out of 10 drivers are immigrants with poor english skills. I am not making this up.
