'Lo there folks. I've been lurking for a bit reading and researching as I prepare for a career change from retail to trucking/transportation. Y'all have been a wealth of information. I'm 35, live in Memphis, TN and have been in retail/retail management for 13 years. After 7 years with Walgreens they decided to eliminate my position as an assistant manager in favor of 40% lower paid key holders. It was the best thing for me as I have hated retail for quite a while.
Based on the information I have garnered from the forums I am choosing to go with Prime for my training. I was originally going to go with the local votech that has a 7 week program to avoid being under contract with anyone but they had to cancel their last class due to losing their instructor and still don't have one hired for the class that is supposed to start on the 23rd. I am nervous as to the quality of training I will receive so Prime has become my first choice. Plus, I really like paid apprenticeship model that they use.
Anyways, that's the basics. So hello all!
