Hi all, A little about me. I'm a currently a Laid off Union Plumber (2yr, 3months) that needs a new way of making some money. I decided to go to school at Heavy Metal Truck Training in Pine City, MN. I passed my written with three endorsements today. (tanker, doubles/triples and Haz) I start driving on Nov 1st. I also have a local job (55miles away) lined up and they want me to start as soon as the licence is in my hand. Help and pointers are always welcome.

    Kevin...

Good to have you with us SilverRam. Have been to school or are you getting your CDL so you can go to school. Sounds like you're on a good track with the local gig and all.

I started school by getting my CMV manual and doing a 350 questioner. I took my test and passed, now i have to wait till the next new class starts to start driving. Thanks for the welcomes. I have read a few horror stories, it makes me nervous.

dude don't worry about our horror stories :biggrin_25525: worry about keeping that truck between the ditches and backing it up safely. The thing about driving is that everyone takes to it differently. You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders which is a start for sure. Relax ,ask questions, and use patience while you're driving. One good tip I was given in school....don't think you have enough room, KNOW you have enough....get out and look take your time cutting across intersections....if you have to think about having enough room then you dont ..wait for it. But you'll get it man be safe out there especially in the snow take it slow

your welcome....remember this aint rocket science it's truck driving!!! it is what you make it...it can be a nightmare or fun....of course there are other folks in the industry that assist in making it a nightmare...dispatchers, brokers, lumpers, did I mention dispatchers.....oh and never trust a mechanic when he says it's "good enough":biggrin_25525:
