I can assure you all,it is not the schools fault, yuo know that trainers and schools do not teach this or condon it. It is a learned trait that needs to be addressed. These drivers gamble and play the odds until someday, others and sometimes not them are killed or blamed for that fatal accident. i run chicago every week, drivers are 5 feet off my trailer,it does no good to slow down as another just replaces him or her behind me,I just keep going with the traffic flow and leave plenty of room ahead for me to stop so that I will not be pushed into a vehicle ahead of me. If you slow down, then you are making yourself a hazard for some bad wreck to happen behind you as the accordion affect will get you. You are d........if you do and d........if you don't. I personally have seen at least a dozen drivers in trucks die in these kinds of wrecks, most in ct,ny,nj area but can happen anytime anywhere, not counting the trucks killing 4 wheeler drivers and passengers.Let's all try not to do it,Tailgating is a deadly gamble, you and I can't afford to be part of this phenominin.

Even as a new driver, you have to not be dealing with a full deck If you follow anyone close at all. Air Brakes are great, but 50,000 lbs or more CANNOT STOP ON A PIN OR EVEN A FOOTBALL FIELD.

I am neewer than the newest drivers -- I don't have a CDL yet -- and I think "Short Stack" is dead on correct. "50,000 lbs. or more" is a lot of momentum that does not want to slow down or change direction. Even in a car anyone who "follows to close" to any other vehicle is either ignorant or stupid. I can think of one exception: race drivers draft as part of their skillful effort to win the race, but I don't want even a skillful race car driver following me too close.
That's my opinion -- Whether or not I am allowed to have one this early in my game? -
It's amazing how fast you safety zones can fill up in high traffic areas. Be careful drivers, and don't ruin your day with filling out an accident report. Remember we are the professionals out there on the road.
