It will be phased in incrementally probably starting in about 15 years. Collision centers, lane control, blah blah blah and as you know it always makes errors, see’s crap that’s not there, brakes when it doesn’t need to. The last company I worked for, the collision avoidance system slam the brakes on while cruising down the freeway because it saw a ghost or something. Maybe a shadow, I have no idea. Twice and almost caused an accident. They can’t even get that stuff right. And y’all are worried about completely automated self driving trucks? We will all be dead and gone before they have those. Or retired.

How would a pre trip inspection work? Also what about sabotage or something else while in transit?

But yeah, you are right none of us alive today will see it.
