I think they are replacing trucks. And selling some older trucks. Not sure if WS is actually putting more trucks on the road, only different trucks.
Food for thought

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.

His opinion is pretty clear -
Yes they bought some used ones from another company, (I forget the name) they all have between 400 and 500K miles on them. The last time they bought any "new" trucks was in 2008. So no they are not putting more trucks on the road right now anyway. I'm just hoping they will give the drivers the rest of the pay cut back and that they will start contributing to their 401k again...
-
Well...not exactly true from what I understand. They bought a bunch (don't know how many) of trucks from Crete. They have gone from 20 drivers in the conover terminal to about 80 and they want 120. So yes, they are putting more trucks and drivers on the road.

I hope to be one in a couple of months.

Though I'd probably be running out of the Dalton terminal hauling carpet.

For all the new drivers the company hires on, I would guess that maybe 10 percent of those new hires are still here after 1 year. Some probably quit because the company's not what they expected, some quit because trucking's not what they expected, some move to another company, and of course some get fired. You've all seen the Loss Run Reports hanging in the terminals and stapled to your load sheets--how many of the drivers whose accidents made those reports do you think still have a job?
And Wulfman, you'd more likely be an OTR driver running the lower 48 and occasionally pulling a carpet load out of Dalton. But then again, I'm OTR and I haven't been west of the Mississippi since mid-May.wulfman75 Thanks this. -
That's fine with me. I want to roll wherever they will send me. Don't mind moving some furniture around either so it's all good either way. Just gotta get school out of the way first.

Look at it from a different perspective WingRider - - - The more drivers they hire, the more time you have to "fly" your Gold Wing. And we BOTH know that a day on a Wing beats a day in the tractor, ANY DAY!

I'm the same....been running the western 11 or so with a trip from Montana to Texas and back thrown in for good measure. I'm happy staying closer to home, although I'm starting a regular run next week doing trailer shagging to Desert Hot Springs and back with CAGE, who will be coming from Phoenix to meet me. Should be done early enough daily to snag a local truckload delivery as well...I guess I should find out what kind of Starbucks Shirley likes and bribe her to get some good runs...LOLwulfman75 and difference-maker Thank this.

I'm really waiting to hear how that run goes for you guys. Sounds like exactly what I'd like to do. I wonder if they'd let me being that my home terminal is Jersey? I've told them from the start that since I don't really have a "home", to get me out west an keep me there for a couple three months at a time.
Coffee huh? Hmmmm...I grind mine fresh every morning. Perhaps I'll send her some....LOL
