WV is very limited in Foodservice companies. Most of the state is served by companies in PA, VA, OH, and MD. PA has many foodservice companies. National, regional, and local companies. Cost of living in Central and Eastern PA is higher then here in western PA, so pay will vary greatly. For now, try AFI-PFG in Elizabeth, NJ, right behind the airport and Ferrio Foods in Piscataway. I use to know drivers at both and both sounded like good companies.

R I never thought about it, but your right I don't think there are to many food companies really based in West Virginia like does Sysco even have an opco in that state at all? I know GFS doesn't we just truck stuff down from the warehouse out in your neck of the woods.

They do mostly McDonald's certain suppliers like Anderson-Dubose and Golden State Foods, Mile High they are McDonald's suppliers and pretty much only do McDonald's. I do not think McDonald's suppliers are really a bad deal I think it's an alright job.

How does foodservice pay work? Hourly? The mile? Yearly averages?

Some companies pay hourly, some pay piece-milage-stop, and very few pay salary.

Many (most? all?) McDonald's are set up with a roller conveyor system to drop product from the truck right into freezer, cooler, dry storage areas. I guess that means handling product twice, but better than pounding up and down a ramp all day.

I talked to a driver once as he was delivering. He said it was the best job he'd ever had, and he wasn't a young man. That was when it was M&M Express around here, before MB acquired them. There is often a truck in my hotel parking lot when I get there, but I never see the driver. He's gone before I get up.
