Ive worked for sysco for a little over a year, it is the most physically demanding route job ive ever had. I run a 4 day a week route usually pull about 52 hours a week, You can figure in the grocery slinging business your gonna have 20,000 lbs on the truck a day, and probably touch half of it twice, depending on how well the warehouse built your pallets. All in all its not a bad deal, but asian restaurants are a pain. Im 28, its definately a young guys job. The guys that i see that have been around 20 years limp, cant stand up straight and so on. good money though, we are mostly union and some sysco houses do performance pay (faster you work more you make per hour). Some days its great and some days its not. Gotta be ready to work like a dog.

Did it for 33 years with GSF...and It will keep you in shape for sure....I'm 64 and I'm sure I could still keep up with any 25 year old on the block!

Us Old timers have Work Ethics, I'm the same way, I can keep up with 99% of the New Drivers we have working now.

UNFI is also a good company to work for, a lot of full pallet roll ins but also some hand truck and break down with key drops. They aren't union and didn't pay overtime but you can still make some good dosh. My wife couldn't handle the schedule so I left, still regret it
gsmith2332 Thanks this. -
