I went down to Long Beach Harbor when they brought the New Jersey into the base the first time after I believe Reagan pulled it out of the mothball fleet, as well as some other battleships, as part of the 600-ship Navy that we built up against the Soviets. Pretty impressive from what I remember. I might still have some pictures from that day if I can find them. I had forgotten that it was stationed there. Such a shame they shut that base down.
