Then they will get to see how much it actually costs to deliver their cars. I doubt they will haul any off the rail because then they would be responsible for all the damages they don’t find as well. Much easier to pass the buck.

HA! Years ago, one NEVER saw'r a GMC tractor pulling a load of Fords. Almost blasphemy. Car hauling used to be a very prestigious job. You were usually greeted with fanfare of the new arriving car models. More than once, families would come to the dealer and watch as the driver skillfully unloaded their new station wagon, and the fun waiting to be had. Today, cars differ very little from each other, and company specific trucks( Ford, Chevy, Dodge) have gone the way of the DoDo bird. In my best estimation today,,NOBODY CARES ANYMORE,,,for all they know, the car comes from the back of the dealer somehow.

"According to a report by Automotive News, GM plans to buy 400 heavy-duty trucks its employees will directly operate to bring vehicles to dealerships"

Good luck finding 400 qualified drivers..

Still, doesn't say much for the car hauling biz,,I bet there's vehicles built waiting to be shipped. These big corporate decisions happen for a reason.

When the line worker sobers up maybe they can deliver a local load before going home. My wife was a nurse at one of the local Big 3 auto plants and the falling down drunk plant worker was a daily occurrence.

There are plenty of vehicle's on the ground waiting to ship.. We have more work than we can haul nobody wants to work anymore. Why actually get dirty and work when you can ride around holding the steering wheel with your left flip flop on the dash ?!?

Many people will work hard but not for less than a steering wheel holder with a good LTL freight company. If the manufacturers and their carriers had paid remotely close to what spot market is currently paying, every car built would already be delivered. You get exactly what you pay for!
