Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.

I actually think it’s a good idea, but they very likely won’t stick with it because it will cost them UPS wages to get it done properly ($150,000 a year plus benefits), plus buying $400,000 rigs and maintaining them. They still won’t be able to haul all of their cars. The seasoned drivers they hire will likely be union drivers already hauling their cars for Cooper and Cassens. So this leaves them with the same number people hauling their cars as are doing it today.

Hi TM, well, it's not just car hauling, any job that requires any kind of physical labor, is falling out of favor, FAST. I hate to say this, but the only people that will do those jobs today are immigrants. We have a ton of construction going on, and most, if not all of those workers are Latinos. They are like we were 40 years ago, where physical work was all there was. This "initiative" by GM, only shows how out of touch these corporate bozos really are. I can hear the boardroom meeting now,
Boss: "we'll just hire some drivers,,how hard could that be?"
other kiss axxes in the room: "oh, good idea boss",, -
We are at a point where if you have a somewhat clean record and some OTR experience we will train you to haul cars. Most do not last very long either.

So how much can a driver make at your job and what kind of schedule?
-
Depends on how hard you want to work. None of our (9) car drivers are less than 100k a year. We have (5) car drivers doing 100k. You have to want to do this job it isn't for everyone. We have a mix of midwest regional and some long haul. We are hauling mostly new now not much auction work anymore.
My friend @Banker could give you and idea of what the union carriers make once they get some experience. They might be an option for some people depending on location. -
In my opinion if you just want a good check, do something else. If you have a desire to haul cars those that make it will eventually make $100,000 a year and then some (currently a huge swing in pay depending on if you are hauling spot market freight or not). Car haulers hauling spot market freight currently are absolutely killing it, but that won’t last forever. A good carhauler should still make $2,000-$2,500 consistently during normal times.
The schedule is generally what you set it to be.Last edited: Feb 2, 2023
