Swift, along with numerous other carriers, is in the process of switching to an all automatic fleet. A lot of old, and veteran truckers don't like it cause they are afraid of change. The same people who tell you, "I don't use a GPS, I just use a paper map!" with pride like it is something to be proud of, are the same ones who will whine and complain all day about automatics. Why do they complain? Because they are afraid and they know it is the 100% without a doubt future for trucks. In 10 years you won't find a single major carrier running manuals, and that's a fact.

But if you are road testing with Swift right now, it will probably be a 9 speed.

Yep, mostly because they won't be able to find real drivers to fill the seats. Not too many now, at these big carriers.

So, with all of you experience, how do you know that it's a fact that there won't be any manuals in 10 years? Enlighten us.

He read it on the internets and another driver told him at the TA. Over here at Lessors we tried automatics. And they sucked. Right back to manuals. Kids no not of what they speak. Yours truly, a dinosaur who likes paper maps and manual transmissions.

The swift sucks mentality is funny to me. That Ike stephens screw swifty crap, here is the thing. I worked DLI/Branscom locally on my way to 70K a year they were both DOT violating companies that wanted to have you do things, that would ruin your driving record. Worked for Roehl, they Micro manage you into oblivion they also pay terribly only perk is apu on all trucks they are also trifling there corporate people from the top (rick Roehl) to there lowly recruiters treat you like crap the attitude of I am better than you.

Schneider wants to see if you get cut to bleed orange supposed to be OTR they sent me northeast repeatedly had me home every weekend I asked for more time out they told be they made me northeast regional because I was so close to 64 I85/95 perfect northeast corridor and so close to the drop yard my checks were less than I would make at mcdonalds Walmart as a cart pusher.

These companies whatever they are MEGA(swift) small (rappahanock concrete) It the same Dm recruiters lot workers management are 9-5 M-F they know your 24-7 and run you that way and are all self absorbed. You all can talk about this company that company but no ones falling on a sword for you.

Swift always has freight its 95% drop and hooks. Schneider 75% is Bs I did nothing but live unloads and they always found a way to not pay me for it. There people up at the Richmond terminal generally care more so then my former employers none of that screw it I am off in a couple hours(Josh) charlotte terminal told me that on the phone with Schneider.

Zing! Amazing what you can find out by having the gonads to check out a company for yourself instead of believing every whining post on TTR.

Huh! After all these years and miles, searching for the answer to life, ive found it!!!!

In my dinosaur, atlas reading, paper log, stop when I wanna, not when I'm told mentality, I can't believe I missed it!

Perhaps my proven prehistoric way of trucking ( no GPS, atlas, log books) allows me to forget what some are just now discovering.

    medical issue finally 100%

swift march to april diagnosed with testicular cancer had it removed worked local in the process, healed up went with Schneider hand broke could have dealt with it but low pay to I respectfully quit. worked dli dedicated great money they were just clueless and had a guy drop a transmission on said broken hand. Branscom was ok B trucks but they were downsizing said I would be seasonal. worked Roehl broke my hand again left one this time they sent me home.

my experience was with swift this week was as following. 1st day physical paper work same stuff 2nd day road tested passed the road tester then told me 200 hours of training I said "no sir I have 7 and a half months exp..." he told me they only check 2 months of experience I asked for my license and dot physical back.He told me to talk to Bernard before leaving which I did it was there mistake not to check all my work history but would take them a week to fix everything.
