When I first got my new Volvo I would get ~4700 miles on a tank of DEF, but that figure has dropped to closer to 4k.

The last time I filled it was at a J, since we can now use our Comdata for DEF.
I was getting closer to the original miles this time.

Perhaps all DEF's are not created equal and Swift, in their infinite wisdom, decided to save some cash and get the cheapo stuff.
I wonder if the cost savings outweighs the increased usage.
And I wonder if the cheap stuff is in any way detrimental to the engine.
Maybe I'll mention it to my DM.

Zuki, how much does the Swift stuff cost?

I can't imagine it being bad for the engine since its only being sprayed into the exhaust stream, no? I'm new to the DEF and I don't even have a truck with it. So are these new egines & systems (2010+) pretty good & reliable? Or what

    Right... not for the engine.
But for the downstream (DEF) system.

My 2013 Volvo has been very reliable, in every way.
Close to 100k on it now, and hardly a hickup.
The only problem I've had was a clogged fuel filter.
(That's a hint, in case you suddenly lose power and have a check engine light. And it might clear itself after several miles, only to pop up again. And at some point the engine derates and you are almost without any power.
The shop wanted to send the truck to the dealer, until I remembered a similar problem with a ProStar. And a fuel filter was the cause of both.)
