I recently heard some companies are gonna install bunk cams in addition to body cams to help catch footage that the driver facing cams dont catch. I'm sure there's plenty of drivers that will welcome that.

High Stepper and Graham Cracker Thank this.

Did you hear that at the counter from a guy who is driven more miles backwards than you have forwards?

I have never said to ban either of them.

My point with the driver facing camera is that sometimes they will nitpick you to death, and that alone is a distraction.
When Swift had the driver facing camera I had a few events sent in. More than a few, but only a few that went to the DM to review.
Yup, too slow getting through that yellow light and it turn red too soon. Things like that.
But my every move was not used against me.
I smoke a pipe, and I use both hands to light it. That would trigger an event at many places.
And the other stuff I mentioned that are just over the top intrusive and not really contributing to safety at all.

On the gun issue, I do think there needs to be better safeguards in place - especially with assault weapons.
But I do not advocate banning guns in general.

Yeah, which was ironic. When he left I saw him get into his pickup truck and leave the parking lot. After I saw the pickup it became clear. This guy means what he says.

When I was hauling coils in the Uhaul, some brokers wanted live updates so I just mounted Go Pros in the back like this and let them view it in transit.

    I hear ya.

My company basically looks whether a driver is awake when the camera is triggered or hand held cell phone use. Holding a phone wont trigger the camera itself, something with the truck has to trigger the camera first(lane departure/following distance, ect..).

    Moosetek13 Thanks this.

Not all driver-facing cams are used in the same way, each company is vastly different.

I personally have no issues with video, but audio is another matter entirely. My hillbilly vernacular tends to spew generational phalisimns that ain't meant for public consumption.

Im hoping it eventually gets to where the company can put a chip in your brain and see any negative thoughts you have about them and punish accordingly. Right now I link my dispatch into all my personal calls and I forward all texts and emails I get to my terminal manager.

They hired me, so it's just as much their business as it is mine.

    Lol, OFF TOPIC.

Thoughts are NEVER equal with actions. Unless you are one of those Cat'lickers from Rome.
