Don't be so sure. In today's society, people love cameras looking at them. I believe some companies are even talking about making it mandatory to install cameras in driver's houses to monitor your 10hr and 34 hour breaks.
Apparently ELD aren't as effective at keeping drivers safe as previously thought, so they want to take more measures to offset the ineffectiveness of the ELD. If trucking companies can monitor the drivers on their off duty time, they can keep the drivers and public safer. Plus they can keep drivers from doing bad things like drugs and armed robbery or just simple things like speeding thru school zones or getting in fights.

To some degree, yes. But not at an absolute level.
And there is always the choice of the driver to not work there if they do not like the conditions.
All this griping about the cams, when the driver always has the last say in the matter.
Simply choose not to work there.201773 and MiFamilyGuy Thank this. -
Is anyone developing contact lenses with cameras in them? That would be the ultimate, especially with a live feed to the company you work for. Society thrives when there is a lot of surveillance and no privacy, we could all have our own Truman Show.HoundDog7 Thanks this.

You should write a book with that theme.
You could call it 1984.RockinChair and NH Guy Thank this. -
Horsesh*t! You are fake news.

This!! Simply work somewhere else or buy your own truck. Problem solved.Moosetek13 Thanks this.

So, let's say I own an apartment building. I want someone to fill a maintenance position, and one of the perks is a free apartment.
I do not have the right to put cameras in that apartment. Doesn't matter if the guy works for me. Doesn't matter if I own the property. It's illegal.
Just because someone is being paid, does not mean they give up all their rights. Slavery was made illegal quite a while ago, just so you know.High Stepper Thanks this. -
That is not the same thing. There is Employment Law in the United States and there Tenant- Landlord Law.
Two entirely different things.
A tenant pays a landlord whereas as company pays -
But the tenant, in this scenario, is not paying anything. He's being paid. Try again.
If I'm OTR, that truck is my living space, and I will not put up with a camera in it. -
Like has been said. If you dont like driver facing cameras then work for somebody else.
