Absolutely this, at least for most local drivers I know. Yes you might have a commute to work but for the most part the hours are usually regular unless you happen to be the new guy on the block, it's easy to get things done at home, when your at home. It would be hard IMO to find an OTR job where you have a regular schedule.

I did it one time and that was enough to make me decide I’m not gonna risk a mark on my record because they want to save shipping costs and get trucks into an area not built for it.

I warned dispatch I wouldn’t do it again. I thought we had an understanding till they sent me to another ####ty location like that.
“I’m not backing the truck up to that ########”

was put on the phone with the owner “they can figure it out or I can come home and someone else can have my truck I’m not gonna tear something up over their stupidity”

they brought a pallet jack out and two more guys and unloaded it that way.

It’s been smooth sailing since then. I don’t mind a hard back, it’s part of it. I won’t get involved with bs tho.

You might get fired for giving them a hard time, but that looks better than an accident I’d assume.
The pallet jack has come into play more than a few times fwiw sometimes I even help.
