I got fired for refusing to drive because of the rickety equipment.A week later I delivered a load and was promised id go home afterwords so I could clean trk out.Sure no problem I have a load 40 miles from your house waiting for confirmation dispatch says.Much to my surprise boss shows up with another driver at the receiver and fired me.I did sue him for wrongful termination. No doubt about it dispatch will do their very best to intimidate you and so will his boss.Which is one of a million reasons why drivers quit.Unfortunately companies don't see anything wrong with dispatch its all the drivers fault. If I wanna do a load its going to be on my terms, legally and safetly.I use to let dispatch get the best of me but not anymore.Trucking don't pay enough to do any special favors and really they don't appreciate the drivers.

A small company is who I sued. Its true they know you by voice when you call. They're more laid back then the med to mega carriers are. You're not waiting for hrs for a load. They have a preplan while youre under a load. But it also has disadvantages like what I went thru, bad equipment, too cheap to get anything fixed AT any shops other then theirs. They will try there very best to get you to run illegal.Jason wanted me to drive from Minniapolis to Dallas in one day and be there by 5 pm.I told him jokenly to go fly a kite it ain't happening. He was real close to losing that account due to late loads. So at that time he stops at nothing to get loads delivered ontime.Reason for so many late loads was because of bad equipment braking down.I hope he finally lost the account.

The drawback of driving someone's truck is the owner can book his truck to pick up and deliver, the driver is hired to follow commands. Drivers often use the word forced like it is bad. Yea I know a guy who was forced to drive a route everyday and deliver potato chips to the customer. On the other hand, the boss always has the authority over the subordinates whether they like it or not. Want to be your your own Boss, buy a truck!

Amazing patty extremely crazy wwooww my boy that been driving over 20 years I got off the phone with him earlier and he quit his old job similar to how they had you run. He said when he was under him he would go from our hometown jersey City nj to buffalo ny run it straight there & back and just going up to buffalo from our area already est up lile 6 or 7 hours of the time. And he was running on paper. He told me he got tired of it running hard like that & he not paying him reasonable. He told me he ran from jersey city nj to ohio & back. So now he with a different company that provides benefits. It amazes me cause I thought if you run under O/O you getting the best equipment or the old classic type stylesh petes & kw that big companies don't give no more. I didn't know they equipments can breakdown a lot. Cause my boy told me that O/O equipment broke down too

Dusty I don't think they have problems with O/O from what everyone saying they got a problem with how they run there business to get them running illegal to make ends meet. I see a lot of drivers with 10+ years going back to mega carriers

I can't talk for owner ops but small companies will run you ragged if you let them and have some of the worst equipment imaginable,I had like 6 trks maybe more the 3 yrs I was with this company. Then of course the running illegal you say no risk getting fired..Megas will do the same thing only they're going to find other reasons to get rid of you even though the main reason is you didn't do certain special favors for them. That's one of many things drivers have to put up with in this industry.Whether a small company or large, they're all the same,in it only for the money and if you give them an inch believe me they'll take a mile. That part of this industry will never change.I see it getting worse because of all the laws in place.

You got that right.Jason changed his company name got a new DOT number because his safety was at 100% which is the worst you can get and was told to get onboard recorders in all his trks or shut down.I'm going to look up his safety score and see what it is now.
