Well said. The days of running 1,000miles non-stop and thinking you got away with it are over...you only got away with not being stopped/shut down.the electronic records are still available for quite sometime after you "got away with it"...
As far as my dispatcher is concerned..i dont even have a cell phone..all communication has to be sent thru the Q-com(seems to really cut down on him asking me to do illegal activities.)
i mean,i have a cell phone, and he has the #..but when he sends me a message that says"call me"..i just send a message back that says."no service on cell".."what do you need?...his reply is usually.."never mind"

I know then that he wanted me to do something illegal but was afraid to put it permenantly on record...

They(dispatch) are alot smarter at cya than drivers are..but we need to get better at it.

I had a former "friend" we grew up together, that used to run the 1,000+ mile days, he even managed a 7,500 mile week solo, but his norm was 4,500 to 5,500 weeks.

He is sitting where he deserves in jail / prison, he was doing coke, & crack, & was driving for 8 years on that stuff, he drove for 12 years total. but he got hooked on the money & then stayed broke because of the drugs, I watched him start with nothing, & build up & then back to nothing back on the streets, & now in jail or prison. he has been off the roads for 5 or so years.

He bragged about running people off the road, laughed about all the accidents he caused & kept going, he robbed people, & said had left no witnesses, from his actions towards the end he probably did as he said & from a few police friends I was told he is connected to several drug related murders in my area, & from the way he talked in those days he knew quite a few other drivers just like him. but I have no sympathy for him. Both his wife & gf have moved on, but I see them from time to time. they found out about each other towards the end before he got caught for other drug related crimes. all I know is he was locked up & has a long time to serve.

You may get off on telling people to break the law. I do not. I have ethics and that can get me into trouble on the other professional licenses I carry.

It is a decision that each driver has to make. I have never had to make such an illegal decision.

Now if you drive 15 minutes over your 11 and a drunk in a Daihatsu plows into you from behind, you go to prison for life. Granted it's probably safer to sleep a few hours (I never get more than four, but I'm old), but the government has gotten a bit carried away, I think. They're talking about putting electrodes in our heads so that they can see whether or not we're really sleeping, and watching us with cameras. If they want me to get more sleep, they can repair the ##### roads. I'm a team driver.

Wow. That's like doing meth, & crank.

Let me guess...he was in church three times a week before he got started with the drugs, then he suddenly became an ## overnight? ////

    Drugs + government = crime.

There maybe some truth to this story, out of no where north caribien started calling saying they would put me in a truck 2morrow,hmm.red flags in my head started going off.So I started questioning them.they will pay .34 on a1099 no w2,no benefits,no easy pass, toll come out of your pocket with the promise of being reimburst,no rider program, you off load your trailor for free,no detention pay,,in there app.it states that you are responsible for all tickets of any sort including out of date reg, ifca, weight, anything.any an all damages will be subject to wage garnishment.. Sign me up..LOL..

Because the in industry has managed to program them into the belief that "more miles" is the only way to make "more money" ... when instead drivers should be working and advocating for more money - for the work they already do - and are under-compensated, or not at all.

    chalupa and bulletproof77 Thank this.
