I would have to disagree with that. There are several guys here that operate nearly on their own under someone's authority. They are leased on to get the discounts and better insurance and in some cases don't have to deal with ifta etc. Basically they are paying a percentage to have someone else deal with the office stuff and maybe access to certain things. in Every other way they are operating alone. Now I'm sure if the owner or dispatcher called and asked them could they take care of a load they would if it paid properly.

The biggest key is know who you are dealing with and know if you can trust them. Now you should definitely read the contract but in my opinion if you are having to read fine print and dissect every sentence to make sure it can't be twisted, you are dealing with the wrong company and they will never be a true business partner.

I hauled for a trucking as a sub contractor on regular basis just about with my own authority, I take the good with the bad. The bad doesn't come to often, but I take it as a challenge and to let the company know, fair is fair. And I remind them that sheedy load they gave me. When they dispatch me I would say, don't you have another option, they would tell me that there are out of options and can I help out, when they explain to me professionally, I don't hesitate and I take the so-called force dispatch load(sheedy load). But they always make up for it, and while I'm on that sheedy load, I always make the best of it.
