Ah. I can see why this is a stinky deal. If they offered to pay for it in useable cash or paycheck reimbursement, that's one thing. "Prime bucks?" No. That's not reimbursement. What are you supposed to do? Cash your points in on a 'Got my HazMat' hat?

Read your Contract and see what it says. One might have a legal reason to bale out on that contract their stuck in for 3 years. JMO if your wanting a way out. These threads so make me feel so more confident and excited to be an O/O VERY SOON. I so HATE how these companies treat their Drivers that are the main ones keeping their company in operation and food on table for their children and families. Makes me so sick Drivers are so under appreciated. Worse thing about this job. Thank God there are a lot of pluses to keep my mind in right place most the time. Hope it works out for ya Dooki. Stay Safe!!

yeah. that's one of the reasons its a crock. other is forcing it. like I said if I wanted it to begin with I would've done gotten it. I don't wanna deal with all that. just gives more validated reason to move on I guess.

I'm under no contrat with my company. I did my obligated year, I just wanted to get more exp under my belt. Not the type who jumps round on jobs at all. But yeah, sometimes they're good to us sometimes they push all the wrong buttons, but I'm sure its like thst with any company. And thanks you too.

In CA if you want to add an endorsement you have to take all the written tests again if it has been over a year since you got your CDL.

I asked CA about getting a passenger endorsement and they also said I had to take the behind the wheel because it is a different type of vehicle!

I signed a one year contract for CDL training with them and came out without paying a dime for it when they breached contract. When I signed up the minimum MPG was 6.25 then 6 months in they raised it to 6.5. That was the breach and when my truck got cut back to 55mph, I cleaned it out at home and got a load straight back to Springfield, got my bus ticket and felt as if a world of weight had been lifted off my shoulders. We were forced to under go finger printing for TWIC. I never finished to fulfill mine. Of course I didn't pay anything because it was done in house there in the dinning area next to the café. They wanted me to get my passport too. HELL NO! Got my hazmat on my own a couple years ago but let it go. Biggest waste of money I ever spent and never even got to use it. If hazmat requirement wasn't listed in your contract, I'd split. If they come after you to pay for training (if that's what you've done) then you can hold them to breach of contract. They won't bother you then.

TMC required all drivers to have hazmat, but only like 10% had it. Who knows if they will enforce you needing it. That being said, they can require you to get and additional qualifications they want you to get and if you don't like it you do have the option to quit. You could just no get it and wait and see if you get fired.

That's understandable if they told you up front when hired that eventually you need to get one. But this guy's saying they qualcom a force message telling you have to get one. Think about how many drivers will lose their jobs if they forced it. Cause you have a felony you can't get Hazmat right? And we all know a lot of drivers had a felony at one time or another than in most professions.
