Are you near Indianapolis? A quick Google search will show you that Concentra has two health centers located in that city.

They don't cost that much. That may be what the insurance companies are being billed but the actual cost is under a grand.

Yep the sleep apnea checks are not required. Recommended maybe but not required. Seems to depend on the insurance carrier.

    WHAT THE ####?

They measured your neck and shut you down because it was over their guide line.

What were they measuring your neck in the frist place for?

Did it have to do with company shirt sizes?

The size of your neck has nothing to do with you job unless some how it interfears it doing your job.

I like to see them measure Arnold's(CA governer) or Hulk Hogen's necks and then tell them they have been rejected. That company rep would not be long being body slammed to the floor and bet to hell.

Arnold and Hulk couldn't pass a drug test if they tried getting into trucking without some donations to doctors lol.

    You basically have 2 choices.

    1. Dr shop until you find one that will write you a card. Do not admit to snoring or getting sleepy during the day.

    2. Google home sleep apnea test. You should be able to get one done for around $300. The machine will be more expensive though because those tests cannot set pressures. They prescribe a bipap machine with variable pressures controlled by the machine.

    3. Since you have no job consider Schneider. They have one of the best sleep apnea programs in trucking and will pay for the testing and machines.

This just a scam I had a video camera record me while I was sleep and I didn't have any issues other than waking up to go to the restroom, when the Concentra Dr. told me that I need a sleep apnea test done, I went in there and "did not pass the test", well I told the sleep test nurse, is hard to pass the test if you are trying to sleep with "100 wires connected to your body and your head, and knowing that you are being watch", well long story short, I have been out of work for almost a month, and while trying to get some sleep with the CPAP mask and machine connected, well " I just can't seem to get any sleep, my neck hurts, I got headaches, my sinus has got worse, not to mention my sex life, ( My wife says I look like a robot while I m sleep ), this is just a big draw back for Me as a Man, and to my Family because of these issues my wife has just told me that I have signs of depression, I love being a truck driver and not being able to drive again just makes me depress. I suggest to all the truck drivers out there that are going trough these situation, keep a record of all your activities and record your sleep time while using the CPAP, that way you will have proof in case that you decided to sue these SOB that started this Scam. By the way I'm not saying that there are people out there that really need this treatment, it just make me mad that all of a sudden all the truck drivers are candidates for these tests, if that's the case all the employees with high responsibilities should have these test done; including DOT, Police officers, the President and all of the SOB congress, who approved these laws. one thing is for sure "We need to get all of these congress idiots out of office" by the end of 2014. seems to me like these greedy ######## are trying to get the trucking industry in bad shape.

Neck size is a criteria they use to determine if you are at risk for sleep apnea. According to studies neck size over a certain amount equals a higher risk for sleep apnea.

Most people i have met that have it and use the machines, have said they can't believe how much better they sleep since getting the machine.

I have read recently that FMCSA is trying to get mandatory sleep apnea testing. Right now its just a suggestion.

If you're overweight the risk is higher, IE necksize. Not all overweight person have it, I have met others that are athletic, fit, slim that have been diagnosed with it. The Doc at the company I work for didn't require me to get one, but suggested I should get myself tested, due to high frequency of migraine headaches. Others he required the test for before signing off on the med cards.

Most of the mega's are getting the sleep studies in place now, so that when the FMCSA does make them a requirement they all set and ready to go.

Snoring is not the only symptom. A lot of times its the fact that you stop breathing while you are sleeping. Some people tested have had reports that they stopped breathing for a period of up to 90 seconds. Thats 90 seconds without fresh oxygen going to your brain.
