Forced to move during 10 hour break

Legally, moving the truck at the direction of emergency personnel DOES NOT COUNT AS ON DUTY OR DRIVING. It DOES NOT constitute an interruption of your 10.

The way to deal with it on an ELD is to a) do the move on PC, or, if PC is not available, annotate the move in the comments section with as much detail as possible, including the agency that asked you to move, the reason, and even the officer name if you have it.

your ELD will be blaring “violation” at you most of the next day, but that’s just a dumb computer that doesn’t know any better.

 

Alternatively, contact your company and have them add personal conveyance to your settings.

 

This is by far the easiest way. Even if they limit your PC to 30 minutes (or oven 15 minutes) it solves the problem most of the time.
