Steve, you are right. That is the way it should be at. May. For the average driver there though, that is not the way it is. I mean, it could be. It would be a little work for logistics to regionalize their freight lanes and then identify the drivers who live in those regions and want to run those lanes as long as the miles were decent and guys got home more often, they would cut down their turnover % exponentially.
However, as I have indicated a hundred times before on this forum, that is not the business model they've adopted. -
Steve, I do agree that some of these personal attacks on you are turning into a "Fists, Knives or Guns moment", but,you gotta understand that some of these guys feuding with you, were extremely loyal May drivers. To have your loyalty rewarded with, "drivers are a dime a dozen" is B.S.
Platinum dislikes May cause he wasn't making any money with them. Nothing worse then sitting in your Rolling Coffin, waiting for days for a load. If you have no freight, then let me sit at home. Hell, the terminal at Brooks didn't even have any showers for 5-6 months when I was there.
Me, I got what I expected out of May, then got out of Dodge. I'm lucky that this is supplemental income for me, own my house and my Wife of 38 years, makes big bucks. These drivers deserved better.
You got a great situation at May, so its understandable that you like it there. But, its also understandable that the vast majority of former and current May drivers who are, or were just "Spokes in a Wheel", think that May blows.Last edited: Feb 14, 2013
Paloma, skootertrashr6, Blue02celi and 1 other person Thank this. -
And if you look closely at the posts .. You will see that I said "something changed in 2012, they are not the same".
I say over and over .. I believe MAY TRUCKING is a GOOD Entry Level Company. -
On a lighter note, anybody know the real reason that Phil at safety at Brooks got canned last year ? I heard several different reasons. Just wondering.
-
I heard he got into an argument with a newbie in Orientation and words flew. Not saying that is the reason or even that it happened.
Phil was such a passive guy .. Cant see him raising his voice. -
One I heard was, cause he was searching guys trucks when they weren't in them, to the craziest rumor, that he was caught sucking on tall boys (beer) at the Jubitz yard.
-
I liked Phil .. He was always so nice. I hope he is doing well. I can't see him scratching trucks ... Now the beer, no comment ..lol
-
Yea, me too. I felt bad for him when they got rid of him.Paloma Thanks this.

Two of my former students at May called me this week. One had become an O/O with another company and he just couldn't stand being on the road anymore. He told me, "I'll never get behind the wheel of a big rig again!". Another one gets chewed up and spit out.
The other one is currently working for May and said he just can't handle all the sitting he's doing and not getting home on his requested time off.
Bummer...
I think out of the 15 students I had while at May only one still works there and only six are still in the industry.Last edited: Feb 14, 2013
