Not the point. I have a $100 bill for emergency use in my wallet, plus at least another $100 for regular weekly expenses. The point is, through my carelessness and another drivers greed, I’m without a radio. I will either save a bit here and there to buy another, or I’ll do without.
This is how my wife and I have paid down our debt (over $80k in the last 3yrs). Saving up or doing without, unless it’s considered a necessity.

Haven’t met a truck driver yet (worthy of that title) who didn’t consider the CB a necessary tool.

Some of us like to play around for best performance.

But a Uniden 880 with Loves points and whatever else, fits the tool requirement.

The cb was started up yrs ago for truckers to talk for what ever reason in the 60's....In the 70's it was cool/fad and again in the 80's n on its been to talk to fellow drivers and get the scoop on cops n scales...Last 10-15 yrs many "SUPER TRUCKERS" have it for bragging rights at the trk stop....They wanna be the loudest and shut others down....Many of them usually have a big powered radio or get an amp, funny thing is,so many golden screwdrivers get into them and make a 500+ watt radio reach only a few miles....Talked to a fella once who had a sweet 16 and a predator 30k and i lost him less than 5 miles later..With a big powered dela like that i shoulda been able to hear him for 30+....

I do not remember back in 1965 that many truckers on a cb, actually I don't remember any of them being out there until the late 60's.

Well I guess, not trying to split hairs, just being anal about things for the past few days. However you did say this - "The cb was started up yrs ago for truckers to talk for what ever reason in the 60's" which it really didn't start in the 60's but 50's and it was more or less a business band type service, which was pretty regulated. It was also discourage to have "conversations" on it.

55 MPH speed limit in the 70's is what boosted CB popularly with truckers...Then the rest of the population jumped on board when the CB Movies and songs started popping up...
