When excrement goes sideways and you’re facing a big personal loss you now have skin in the game.
D.Tibbitt, qak, BennysPennys and 6 others Thank this. -
Define "big personal loss"? I've had to come off on amounts out of my own pocket at times that would've covered my mortgage for a few months because of my error/failing. Set against the cost of your truck, a few thousand here and there might not seem like a lot, but when I was first starting out it #### near killed me.
Taught me valuable lessons at that, and now I don't get myself into those jams.Itsbrokeagain, Otr Traveler, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this. -
#### near killed you is a qualifier. Everyone has a different definition of big personal loss.
BennysPennys, Mattflat362, 650cat425 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Let me pick up my groceries and I’ll edit this with a reply, to the best of my ability.

Fair enough. That was my own thought as well. I can't, obviously, speak for Tequesia.
-
I guess I don't view account receivables as having skin in the game.
Yes it's money owed to you,but some of these brokers are working from home with no real tangible investment and just waiting for the customers to pay them.
Apples and oranges. IMHO
Now if you're operating out of the taj Mahal, yes you have a little more skin in the game as far as operating expenses.
But you don't really need the big glass house to do the job.
If I'm going to haul a 75 ton piece, I need the right equipment for the job. No option for that.
Generally speaking, asset based vs. Non asset based.
That to me equals skin in the game.D.Tibbitt, qak, Dadetrucking305 and 5 others Thank this. -
A reasonable enough assertion, though we disagree. My company still has to pay you, as your customer, if you did the load in good faith and everything went according to plan. If we did it for some slipshod customer, we still have to collect that. That by the by, is one of those tough lessons I mentioned in an above post, and why I'm weary about working with any old schmuck of a customer.God prefers Diesels, Dale thompson, bzinger and 3 others Thank this.

Agreed you have to collect, but I also have to collect from slow pay/no pay brokers even if I did every right. So we both have to deal with that.D.Tibbitt, qak, Dadetrucking305 and 6 others Thank this.

TQL has done so many drivers dirty, that they have gotten a bad reputation. The OP posted what most of us have known for a long time. There are a lot of scumbag brokers out there, and unfortunately decent brokers get a bad rap as guilty by association...Otr Traveler, autopaint, Brettj3876 and 13 others Thank this.
