So there i was muttering to myself at the kiosk in des moines iowa and a guy just whipped out his card as he walked by and says no driver will be dirty when he can help

That truck stop has changed a lot. I used go there all the time when my gpa used to help out the guy who owned the cb shop that use to be down stairs until he had to close it up.

Geez i grew up round that truckstop. lived in the trailer park right across the street. Mother worked there and my grandfather still hits it up when he rolls through town.

I think they have the Pilot name and fuel but the rest of it is the same. Nice large showers, good restaurant, good store with some nice display cases and last time I was there it was still Girl Scout cookie time so I bought a box from the girls with their little table set up outside the store. I don't remember if they have a scale on the property but there is a CAT scale across the street at a truck wash I think.

There was a gal there selling a bunch of different types of chocolate candies. I bought a box for myself, and another box of sugar-free chocolates for my diabetic gramma. Was expensive chocolate, but not bad. Still nothing like the fudge you can get in da U.P., eh?

They have a scale (not Cat). There is a drive through CAT scale at the truck wash catycorner from the exit. The restaurant was good and not pricey when I've been there. Showers are bigger than the norm. It is kind of a zoo in the lot (lots of room though). There's also a mickey d's next door if you need really cheap eats.

There's also a Subway in the gas station just to the east of the fuel islands.
The one thing I don't like about this place though is that inside they have way too many vendors selling this or selling that. -
That place is allowing a couple of companies to use their parking lot for a drop-lot. I got into it with the manager about that. I asked him how I am supposed to come in and spend money in the resturant at night especially, when there are 25 or 30 dropped trailers hogging up parking spaces. He didnt have a good answer. I told him I will go down the road and spend my money elsewhere...

That place is alright. They have some neat stuff in the store. It is pilot only on the fuel side, Everything else is still independently owned.

One of the managers told me that they just sell Pilot fuel, franchisee as mentioned above, last month or so they were remodeling inside. Used to be Fort Meyers Truckstop.
