I am pretty neutral on this whole thing (meaning I literally don't care one way or the other) but this is a simplistic view of the shelf plate elements at play in the Permian Basin area.

The key thing I see (a dead giveaway of tectonic shift) are the mountains being created at several points in the map. Those occur when two tectonic plates push against one another.

Anyway. I get tired of the mocking tone and politicization of different topics, so here is some flat, neutral information. Take it in or don't, I really don't care and have never thought less of people in my life. Lol

The fact that you call them "fracking pads" is proof that you're clueless how a frac job works. Funny......we don't have earthquakes in western ND or eastern MT.

Oh, let me guess this one! You call the object in my avatar a "fracking tower". In my case, it would be a "burning fracking tower" :biggrin_25523:

Because multiple layers of cement casing prevents it from entering groundwater-bearing formations as it travels downward to the pay zone.

It was the height of drilling and the completions were nothing like what they are today. Our fracs are much more intense than what they were 10 years ago. And on your map it says 5 km depth, and that's 1 mile deeper than what the target formation is.

Also the thing to remember about September 2012 is the price of oil had dropped by 27% from when it peeked in January of 2012 @ $125 But Fracking wells were used for Natural Gas and the price was down well over 60% from it’s high due to the success of fracking wells causing and over supply.
BTW a 3.3 earthquake on the Richter scale won’t even slush a single drop of water out of a swimming pool. More vibration from a helicopter flying over your home at 500 ft.

that’s an odd statement for someone like yourself, who seems to service primarily the oil and gas industry.

The whole world relies on oil and gas everyday . What’s your point

obviously most people can’t get past their own self interests to have a discussion.
