And, after "training" with CRE, you are not qualified and have no experience, either, even as a "trainer". That company is one of the biggest reasons this industry is in the toilet.

It serves the Wal-Mart management right for sub-contracting out work to such a dirtbag outfit like CRE. You know they got rid of Schneider because CRE underbid them. You'd think if Wal-Mart can afford to pay their drivers so well why did they even bother with CRE?:smt102

Dedicated gigs as a company driver are about the only way to make it a CRE ... Used be able to do OK as an IC on dedicated fleets, but CRE is kicking the ICs off the dedicated.

But you have a pretty small view of the big picture ... CRE does not have "most" of the reefer business. CRE is only covering 4 of about 35 grocery DCs that Wal Mart has - Sterling, IL, Cheyenne, WY, Fernley, NV and Casa Grande, AZ. Swift has all 3 in FL, 2 in AL, 1 in GA, 1 in TX, 1 in MO, 1 in UT, 1 in NM , 1 in LA and 1 in WA ... by my count that is 12 DCs and over 33% of Wal Marts reefer distribution.

'Cmon now - you aren't sating that from experience, just gossip. I've been driving two years and have a clean record. And there are good jobs with CRE - I am doing well here. The complaints come almost entirely from lease operators who got in over their heads because they did not have the discipline or experience to succeed

That is one area where I believe CRE does it wrong - they should not let new drivers lease or let people with only 6 months experience train. If that means they have to scale back their training program then ehticaly, IMO that's what should happen

Thank you, Maybe I was wrong about the extent of their involvement. I know for fact though that they have a DC in Oregon and I'm considering transferring there for better weather - here comes winter again in Illinois.

The incentive program however is a deterrent to leave since it is quarterly and the extra $.07/ mile (on top of the base $.36 + stop pay) would go away until the following quarter if I move to another fleet.

Far as I know the only reason I know to lease here is to team or train: I have met several couples here who tell me they are doing fine and a trainer can make a very good living but I consider that job too stressful and risky; though with a little chagrin since someone had to do it for me.

I think maybe this topic should be docked also! I can add another 7 or 10 other places that do this to drivers. BUT, if you can post on this site, what held your time up from researching this clowns before you went there? OOIDA and others beat them in court, so do some homework before you work for the next "puppie mill"

Perhaps Wal-mart is considering phasing out their fleets altogether.

The Wal-mart truck drivers deserve the money that they receive, give or take about $70,000 a year, however, it may be financially crippling or hurting the Wal-Mart distribution centers.

Therefore, Wal-Mart is sub-contracting the truck drivers from other companies to cut costs and get back out of the red and into the black.

If any of the Wal-Mart truck drivers do get laid off, they should have no trouble finding another job. There are many trucking companies that would benefit from their driving experience.

The laid off Wal-Mart truck driver may have to take a cut in pay and benefits, but at least they will still be employed and NOT out in the streets being unemployed altogether, possibly running the risk of, GOD FORBID, homelessness.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Yeah, keep that attitude and next thing you know you will be working for peanuts and water.

For Pete's sake, it's Walmart, you really think they can't afford to pay their guys a decent wage? Their total profit for 2012 was $119 BILLION. BILLION with a capital B.

    http://www.wikinvest.com/stock/Wal-Mart_(WMT)/Data/Gross_Profit/2012/Q1

I think $70k/year isn't even enough, considering the hours they spend away from their home and the obvious risk of driving a truck. Not to mention their importance in keeping the Walmart system alive and well they should make six figures. Why the hell not? Think of the guys that run out of Hermiston, OR and have to go down Cabbage in the winter, those guys deserve six figures a year in my book.
