Most companies will offer free coffee to police officers. It is a nice jesture plus it helps them have security in place as they come in. The problem is when you get one of these officers that thinks they are better than anyone else because they have a badge. Weed this type out as they will be the ones more apt to take a bribe and be a dirty cop anyway.

technically police officers are not supposed to take anything that isn't available to the general public as well. i.e. free coffee, discount on food/services for being an officer.

its all considered to be a bribe.

however, i have no problems with cops getting free coffee or other things if the business owner CHOOSES to do it because they want to. a fast food place i worked at gave a 50% discount to all officers and fire department employees.

Not always the case. Some police agencies don't allow it because of the potential for a bribe, but places offer truckers free coffee.

When I worked at seven-eleven on grave yard we were supposed to give the cops free stuff, it was to incourage them to come around more often, but we wern't in the best neighborhood.

Shouldn't have to bribe them to come in and do their jobs. He sure wouldn't have liked dealing with me if I had been behind the counter working as he threw his fit. I would have gotten him a sucker and told him I picked it up out of the dirt for him.

I agree with norp that they need to weed more of this type of behavior out of law enforcement.. They simply take advantage of thier power and that power given to some is a very dangerous thing to do...
