I hear ya driver! Sounds like we work for the same carrier, if not similar. Not much you can do about it though. like the other driver said its a marketing tool for the sales reps. Carrier im with wants reason for delays over 2 Hrs. I give em reason for delay over 3 Hrs since thats when my detention starts.

Yesterday my dispatcher took a load for me 200 miles away from delivery destination, scheduled for 1pm pickup. At that time it was noon and I was still 150 miles away from arriving at receiver.

I got empty at 4pm and they said to take the load anyway. I called the broker who said shipper would wait for me so I rush the 200 miles to get there before 8pm and nobody is there. I call broker who says they changed appt for 8am next morning.

I come back this morning and shipper says I have no appointment, I was supposed to be there yesterday at 1pm. They'll have to work me in.

This used to happen to me a lot but hasn't happened much recently. I suppose the fact that I put in my two-weeks notice a few days ago might have something to do with it.

I get detention pay and it starts after the allotted time, that was worked out by whomever, passes... I wapping $15 an hour. I also get layover pay,,,$65 per day,,,umm, I would rather be driving, thanks. I see nothing wrong with 2hrs for load / unload but over that, we definetly should get paid, good.

    Just my two cents...

Mandated by the feds?? Not to my knowlege...... it's a sales tool . One carrier gives you two and the other three hours and so on:biggrin_25511:.

In my deal it's one hour free however we have situations that come up where it's zero pay for me. I handle those like this...... if I don't get it then neither do you and I don't write it down...and they can't bill it.

    NWMAXI Thanks this.
