Apparently he doesn't understand the meaning of the word RESPONSIBILITY, no matter how many times it's been posted that we're responsible for the rig and load until delivered. As well as the rig at all other times.

No kidding. I'm just a trucker's wife. But then, I was apparently raised differently. You know, respect your elders, don't pull in front of a semi until you can see the top of his cab in your rear view mirror....that kind of thing.AXE Thanks this.

You know what, you guys are right. I owe you an appology. I appologize for not knowing all the answers because I'm not a trucker. I appologize for asking questions. I appologize for being polite to everyone, but having to take a bunch of attitude from half of you (thanks for the warm welcome to the forum btw). I appologize for not wanting to spend like 48 weeks a yr without doing one thing besides drive, eat walmart and truckstop food, shower, and sleep.
Also, make up your mind. A bunch of ppl are saying you can call a cab on your 34 hr restart to do something. Then I have ppl telling me I don't know the meaning of the word 'RESPONSIBILITY' because it's been said 'over and over' that you are responsible for your rig and indicating that you can't leave it EVER. (if you disagree with the like 10 ppl who told me I could call a cab that's fine, but don't call me irresponsible because again I'm not a truck driver and that's what ppl told me I could do). Also, what's the real difference in leaving your truck for 2 hrs on a 34 hr restart or on your 10 hrs off duty you're still leaving your truck.
And last but not least, GET THE **** OFF MY ###. I don't want your s*** attitude you can take it the **** somewhere else. For those of you who have tried to help a new guy out I appreciate it. For those of you who are too insecure with your pathetic lives that all you have time to do is try to b**** out someone new to the forum, get a ****ing life and go **** yourself.Last edited: Sep 6, 2011

Alrighty then!
Were you expecting the same answer from everyone?
You come on here asking questions about going to the booby bar in your truck and then get mad about the responses you get! Maybe you aren't getting professional answers because you aren't asking professional questions.
I think for the most part everyone answered your questions fairly and am actually surprised you didn't reemed for such an inquisition.
Blue Screen Thanks this. -
Well I'm just being real. I ask questions that I need answers to. If I decide to drive a truck otr for 48 weeks out of the yr, I want to have some free time. I don't base my questions on how I think ppl will react to them. I still think the whole thing is stupid: I can see the ppl coming out of the strip club now. "OMG I CANT BELIEVE SOMEONE FROM X TRUCKING CO WOULD GO TO A STRIP CLUB! NAUGHTY NAUGHTY NAUGHTY." I didn't know I was applying to run for office. 99% of the general population don't even THINK about the name's of freight co's. (unless maybe it said like walmart or something). And can you see someone being like "UUUUHHH! A WALMART TRUCK! I'M NEVER SHOPPING THERE AGAIN! omg, you act like going to a strip club is like an evil deed or something. And the ppl that are at the club obviously don't think there's anything wrong with it; they're there!
BUT....if that is co policy I have no problem with that. No bobtailing? fine. Take a cab on your dime? Ok. That's why I asked. But don't talk down to me like your my ****ing boss. You ain't nobody to me so lose the ****ing attitude. (not talking to the ppl who weren't a d*** about it obviously) -
Or do as i did, after you get good with your dispacther and you know your loading times ,and unloading times, make sure your in real good with dispacther, if i knew i had x amount of time on dock too load my truck, i go ask the dock manager if i could go eat and walk 18 block's too the resturant, he say's yes, i'm good too go, i lock my truck , up and hand him the key's, but before i ask the dock manager , i ask my dispacther first, he said go ahead and go, and that were you start with, is your dispacther, m dispacther knows i like too walk everywere , so he says go for it, i be back in time as the last pallett going in, i sign the papers and off i go, or like the other time, i was in vergina beach truckstop, well i just got empty, so i ask my dispacth if i could go for a walk , while they look for a load, he said wait, i said okay, he said never mind , call me in the morn, i said ok and he said have a nice walk, i said ok, now everyboby knows the beach is 9 miles from that truckstop , so i got on my walking shoes and away i went , i never seen a beach or piers or big boats big as a football feilds , i'm from Iowa and we dont see those things here,so on the way back , i got pickup , i was walking along the road with there finest pulled me over with there lights flashing, ask me what i was doing, said i was looking at beach and stuff and ask were my truck was then , after i told em i was a truckdriver and they say you know how far away that is, i said no, and they said you walked all the way to the beach and i said yes, they gave me a ride back too my truck and told me too stay put
, so i did, but i was enjoying myself looking at all the sites,

Everett, why did the cops stop you just for walking by the beach? That's kinda weird...
what are typical load/unload hrs at most co's? And can you choose when to drop it off (like can you sleep during the day, drive at night and drop it off at 8am if they give you an unload time of 1pm?) How long does it usually take on avg to get a load once you are empty?
On the 10 hrs off, does the dispatcher contact you or they let you sleep? -
With all due respect, the only attitude I see is in two of your last three posts. All the cursing is uncalled for and does nothing but prove your character. Others are speaking of their commitment to responsibility.
You seem to forget that when you are in any vehicle with the company name on it, you represent the company. I wouldn't take my HVAC service truck to a bar either. I would expect to be fired if I did. I would fire an employee if I were the boss.
You seem to forget that strip bars are businesses that serve alcohol. This is a big no-no for a professional driver. While it isn't a law, the rule for professional drivers and pilots is "twelve hours from bottle to throttle". They will put you out of service and ding your MVR for .02. Whether you drink or not it will be assumed you did.
This is the reason that it was suggested you do this on a 34-hour reset. As professional drivers we are held to a higher standard. This is only one of the additional responsibilities that you will find in this profession. As far as during 10 or 34 hours off, if something happens to the equipment or load in your charge it most likely won't end well.
This is not an 8 - 5 job, if your expectations aren't realistic you will end up disappointed, broke and looking for a new career. The members of this forum do not make up the rules or expectations of the industry. We are here to share our knowledge. We are not here for your attitude and abuse.
If you continue with your present attitude, drivers will watch you screw up and fail while laughing. If you get off your high horse drivers will go out of their way to help you if you ask. Good luck.
