Most guys I talk with, pay $1200 per week, for trailer, fees, maintenance. Im just waiting for someone to offer,a better than average deal. Every terminal I pass is full of trucks...I just laugh.
You need to do some homework here we have no trailer fees and plates are free I pay 1700 a month for my truck to the bank my insurance all in is about 80 a week as far as maintain that's on me but would be the same no matter where I am ....of course year to date I.he spent 11k on maintain beenva rough quarter
What's your NET percentage of your GROSS.....that's what I wanna know. Thanks Interstate deduct truck payment(quality / cure) from your settlement? or you pay directly to quality/cure? Thanks
I have my own truck as a rule I don't like to mix my equipment with my carrier contract I like having options the way I run I have about 1.00 a mile after I pay for fuel and ins is deducted ....that is my goal everyone's different some weeks I hit that number some I exceed it and occasionally I am around 80 CPM .....as far as my other expenses my truck note is 1700 a month and usually my maintain is around 15 CPM with this truck though this year will not be a good one
I didn't say anything about subtracting anything. The rates I talked about were the rates to the truck. The rates you talk about is Landstar speak. I might haul one for 60-70 cents per mile and I might haul one for $65-70 per mile (yes, you read that right). This past week I did 6 loads total. I got home a couple hours ago and I'm currently having a beer while I'm typing this. Load 1 paid me $2.62 pm for 362 miles. 2 $1.64 for 295 (was actually listed at $1.42 and 345 miles, but I took a shorter route). 3 $1.53 for 351. 4 $6.15 for 28. 5 $2.30 for 343. 6 90 cpm for 360. Add about 225 miles for deadhead. I did a little over $3200 this week for about 1950 miles with an average of $1.65 pm mile to the truck, including deadhead, and I'm home with a beer in my hand. I had to cancel a couple better paying loads because something got screwed up, otherwise my average would've been around $1.77 with another 100 miles or so. Anyway, I'll do it again next week. Last week I only did 2 loads for about 900 miles, including deadhead, because I needed to be home and averaged $1.61 to the truck. I'm just trying to figure out how to stay close to home and still make a decent living. This is working for me. Someone also said something about plates. I don't pay for plates, permits or my 2290. Fuel discount sucks at only 10 per gallon, but I'm not nickel and dimed to death here. I also use another fuel card besides just theirs. I am charged for my insurance, fuel, and QUALCOMM. They pull 6 cpm for fuel and road tax. I can have a maintenance account if I want, but I opted out. I bought my truck when I was still at Landstar, costs me $2475 a month.
Mick's you must be running west coast freight .....I think most o/o here stay close to home I.all be there sun morning
I started here mid February. I started doing SoCal to Oregon or Washington and back with a detour to make a nice triangle. It worked pretty good and my average was about the same, but I could really only get by the house for a night or two. I like doing these 300-400 mile runs with one or two 5-30 milers in between. Makes for decent revenue and I can actually be home every weekend. Where are you running?
I know someone on here mentioned that they run around PA...what are the rates and common lanes around PA? Is there a good amount of MidWest freight or not so much?
