I don't have to deal with that freeway for long whenever I head down there for the Thursday night bicycle group ride. I'm usually 60-84-TX70-TX153-183-TX29-35, with the 35S and N compromising like, 30-40 miles of my road trip to the park under the bridge by the river!

My main issue seems to be more related to the behavior of other trucks on the road compared to gridlock and other constants that are easily avoidable. It's definitely a thing when you go from your slug of a work behemoth, to your personal vehicle that's easily flying past all the slowness.

I-35 north of Dallas. I don't see how there aren't major accidents shutting down the highway everyday in that horrible construction zone in Denton.

Locally I'd say I-70 from St. Louis to like Foristell sucks. Actually to Columbia. And then I guess Illinois and Indy always have construction. Come to think of it Kansas is boring to drive through and Denver traffic sucks. I nominate I-70. All of it.

If there were any way to avoid I-17 between Sunset Point and Black Canyon City, I'd pay to take it. This stretch is constantly shut down because everyone and their grandmother wrecks in there and closes the road for hours.

I'd actually accept a bump in my state income taxes if it would go to build a bypass road.

I rely on US 15 to bypass DC entirely.

In the later years prior to leaving maryland, I never went into DC area without a car with big sticky tires, big horse and a exhaust that allows it to breathe. And huge brakes to match. I have had thousands in shop costs making repairs after battle on those cars. Here in Arkansas I hardly go to a shop unless one of the vehicles got sick and not doing well. Where I am we are close to the bayou and traffic is rather slow. (Unless it's the freeway, again if your vehicle is in good shape and can hold 80 in summer without overheating (Nitrogen in the tires, never lost one...) you are ok.

There is one thought I have for the entire USA South from west Texas all the way to Savannah GA. Ice storms. If there is ice, you stay home. It's not so much that you cannot drive, it;s everyone else who cannot and will not stay home.

Chicago is my favorite in winter. They run out a army of trucks to scatter salt all over the pavements when it's just a little rain converting to a slush or ice on contact. The salt simply makes it better ice easier to slide on LOL. (I think they use many compounds nowadays, but we always called it salt.)

But that US 15 (And a few times when necessary 301) was my ground as far as DC was concerned. One of these days that city will be attacked and it's going to need all the roads they have that survive such. But until then? They can have it.

Further north towards G'Burg you had so many quiet side roads, some not even two lane or much wider than your car...) traffic is not a issue. Deer and loose cattle are.

All the rest of the USA? I think maybe to avoid Houston and Sacremento. But other than that there isnt anything that jumps out.
