maybe a thousand a week after taxes and deductions.compared to what many of the starter companies pay even 800.00a week would be a good check for new drivers but unfortunately most dont.many are living from paycheck to paycheck. and can't support their family back home.if miles were consistent then even 25 CPM would make drivers satisfied. but under 2000 miles a week and taxes insurance is taken out you'll be making nothing more then spending money.so even if companies advertise say 45 CPM that means nothing if they dont give you the miles.stormy379, White_Knuckle_Newbie and CJndaTruck Thank this.

Is the freight loads better or worse for teams?

depends on the carrier

Most of you guys aren't worth $1000 before taxes guy. Don't do pretrips, don't sweep out trailers, can't backup or shift, chuck pee bottles, tailgate, speed, don't know how far back tandems should be set, can't read a map just to name a few reasons. Trust me the guys that take this job seriously get paid.driverdriver, BostonTanker, XFM2013 and 2 others Thank this.

dont include me in most of you guys. drivers are worth more just for the stress dispatch company as a whole shippers receivers dot Fmcsa puts them thru.

You mean like the local driver that has been with the company for 4 years, drops your trailer in the yard for your two day run, and you hook up, and find it has a flat, and a few marker lights out?bottomdumpin, XFM2013 and HardlyWorkingNeverHome Thank this.

Nobody want to be included in you guys and no, they shouldn't get paid more for doing their jobs. They should be paid more for doing it well.

I'm sorry, this job is not rocket science, you need no education or special skills. I make 50k a year driving locally and I think that is fair. Not many other jobs will even pay close to that with no education, trade, or special skills. The majority of drivers do not deserve to make 65k or more. If people can't pay their bills with less than 1000 a week take home, they are living beyond their means and should have gotten into a more skilled profession to support their lifestyle. I went from making 25k a year in an auto shop to 50k driving a truck. I am happy, I have a wife, 2 kids, a dog, a cat, a 3 bedroom house in the suburbs, 2 newer but inexpensive cars, an old pickup, and 2 inexpensive motorcycles, what more do I need? "Good money" is a relative term.2duisperyear, Lepton1 and XFM2013 Thank this.
